Aman details Amantaru on Puerto Rico southwest coast

Aman has announced Amantaru, a resort and limited collection of branded residences on Puerto Rico’s southwest coast. The property will be Aman’s fourth destination in the Caribbean.

Amantaru will sit on a hillside above a beachfront stretch within Esencia, a private community of more than 2,000 acres in Cabo Rojo. The property borders a protected nature reserve and wildlife refuge and will overlook the shoreline. The name derives from a Sanskrit word meaning “peaceful tree.” A nearby private airport will provide access. The airport has private hangars and a 6,700-foot runway for private aviation.

Marwan Al-Sayed of MASASTUDIO is the architect. The project is his second collaboration with Aman after Amangiri in Utah. The design draws on Puerto Rico’s historic forts and coastal landscapes. It will use natural and locally sourced materials, open spaces and framed sightlines toward the sea and sunset.

Amenities will include an Aman spa and wellness center, a beach club, racquet sports courts and a range of dining venues. Esencia will have two golf courses, beach, equestrian and field clubs, scenic trails and boating. Amantaru guests will have access to the two golf courses and to sporting activities on land and water.

The branded residences will have three to eight bedrooms and full service. MASASTUDIO will design them in the same architectural language as the resort. Owners will have access to Amantaru’s facilities and amenities.

“We are looking forward to expanding our Caribbean presence with a destination that embodies Aman’s core values of seclusion, serenity and sensitive integration with the environment,” said Vladislav Doronin, chairman and CEO of Aman Group. “The success of our existing and renowned properties in the region has proven that there is a growing demand for a new level of exclusivity and I’m excited to bring the coveted Aman lifestyle to Puerto Rico for the first time through our exclusive collection of branded residences alongside a resort. Located within Esencia, the destination provides the ideal setting to fulfill this vision, a burgeoning new community within which Amantaru will exist in perfect harmony.”

Doronin was recognized as HOTELS Magazine’s 2026 “Hotelier of the World.” Read the cover feature, HERE.

Three Rules Capital is developing the property in partnership with Reuben Brothers as part of the Esencia community. Amantaru joins Aman’s portfolio across the Americas, which includes the recently opened Amanvari in Los Cabos and the forthcoming Aman Miami Beach, Aman Beverly Hills and Amancaya in Exuma, The Bahamas.
