Kamalame Cay, a private island resort in the Bahamas, have introduced eight new one-bedroom beachfront bungalows along the island’s north coast.
Each bungalow offers 660 square feet of indoor/outdoor space and 16-foot ceilings capped with cedar shingle roofs. The shoreline studios are fronted by private verandahs off white sand beaches and are elevated to provide sunrise and sunset views.

The owners and proprietors, Michael and David King-Hew, conceived and designed the bungalows. Kamalame Cay was founded 20 years ago by David King-Hew’s parents, Jennifer and Brian Hew.
Designed with a coastal palette of whitewashed wood, breezy linen curtains, and natural accents like sea grass rugs, the bungalows feature king-size beds, accent furniture and custom ceramic sconces. The interior layouts include a wet bar and seating area, while private outdoor showers allow guests to bathe in nature while enjoying full ocean vistas.
The bungalows are tech-free, without television or Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi is available in the resort’s lounge).
