What’s Hot: Hilton Milwaukee restores lobby lounge

Hilton Milwaukee has completed an extensive restoration of its lobby lounge.

The space once housed one of the longest bars in Wisconsin at 82 ft (25 m). The restoration made it into more of a classic, old school cocktail lounge called the Monarch Lounge.

The art deco-inspired space includes rich wood, comfortable leather furniture, new floor coverings and fixtures that reflect the hotel’s original style. The project also opened windows on the east side of the building that have been covered for decades and built openings that overlook the upper and lower lobbies and a new stone and metal fireplace on the south wall. The north end of the room has interactive work stations with iPads and a printer.

The Monarch Lounge, which has live jazz piano music in the evenings, serves a menu of Mediterranean and classic American small plates with cocktails, seasonal drink specialties, and a global wine list.

The building that now houses the Hilton Milwaukee was built in 1927 as The Schroeder Hotel.
