What’s Hot: Copacabana Palace gets new lobby

Orient-Express has finished a US$20 million renovation of the main building of the Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro.

As part of the project, the lobby has been completely transformed. The space is 80 percent larger, and the Carrara marble staircase is wider than it was.

During construction, workers discovered the original ceiling hidden under plaster. That original ceiling has been restored.

The main entrance now has a stainless steel and glass portico, and the outside is now large enough for multiple vehicles to drop off guests simultaneously.
