Viceroy Hotel Group, Los Angeles, has appointed Bill Walshe as the new chief executive officer, replacing Nicholas Clayton, who in April left Viceroy to become COO at Jumeirah Group in Dubai.

Walshe, who was CEO at the Dublin-based Doyle Collection, joins Viceroy at a time of accelerating growth. The company is preparing for openings in Istanbul this year and Bodrum, Turkey, in 2014, which will boost its count to 18 hotels under management. Year-to-date, Viceroy has added properties in the Maldives, New York City and San Francisco.

Walshe brings extensive senior management experience, having worked for Jumeirah Group, The Doyle Collection and Kempinski Hotels & Resorts. At The Doyle Collection, Walshe led the brand through its reinvention into a modern luxury urban hotel group that today includes 11 hotels in the United States and Europe. Prior, Walshe served as chief marketing officer for Jumeirah.
