IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the conversion of Holiday Inn Express & Suites Queenstown to voco Queenstown through a partnership with Pro-invest Group. The property is being repositioned within IHG’s premium portfolio and will operate under the voco brand following a refurbishment.
The 227-room hotel is centrally located in Queenstown, New Zealand within walking distance of the lakefront and the town’s dining, retail and tourism areas. The asset is owned, developed and managed by Pro-invest Group and is operated by EVT Connect Hospitality.
The property will reopen later in 2026 as voco Queenstown. The refurbishment will include upgraded meeting spaces, a new Private Dining Room, new outdoor dining space and a restaurant and bar, Mozzarella & Co. These changes are intended to adjust the commercial mix and expand appeal across leisure and corporate segments.
“This is a strategic repositioning of a great hotel into an even stronger proposition,” said Matt Tripolone, managing director of IHG Hotels & Resorts Australasia & Pacific. “By working closely with Pro-invest Group and their operating partner EVT Connect Hospitality, we are aligning the right brand with the right asset, and the right location – taking a long-term view to support sustainable returns. Conversions like this demonstrate how we partner with owners to maximise value through brand strength, commercial capability and efficient execution.”
The conversion aligns with broader market conditions in New Zealand, where development activity is described as disciplined and where there is a growing focus on asset quality and value creation from existing hotels. Queenstown is identified as a key destination with year-round visitation and demand for centrally located accommodation.
“This hotel has an established track record and an exceptional location in the Queenstown market,” said Ronald Stephen Barrott FRICS, founder and chairman of Pro-invest Group. “Transitioning to voco allows us to reposition the asset for its next phase, leveraging IHG’s scale, systems and premium brand strength to support long-term performance.”
voco Queenstown will join IHG’s premium portfolio in New Zealand and will be integrated into the company’s enterprise platform, including global distribution, sales and the IHG One Rewards loyalty programme.
