Virgin Hotels Collection has announced Joe Margison as its new CEO, following his tenure as Interim CEO since October 2025.
Margison brings more than 25 years of experience across investment, finance, real estate and branded businesses to the role. He has been with Virgin Group since 2015 and previously served as Virgin’s chief commercial officer.
“Joe’s appointment as CEO reflects the leadership he has shown since stepping into the role. He has brought clarity, confidence and renewed focus to the business while continuing to champion Virgin’s distinctive spirit and experience-led approach to hospitality. We are delighted to confirm his permanent appointment and look forward to the next phase of growth under his leadership,” said Peter Norris, chair of Virgin Hotels Collection.
Before joining Virgin Group, Margison was with the New Zealand Superannuation Fund, where he focused on private equity, credit and real estate investments. He began his career at Ernst & Young and is a chartered accountant.
“Having led the Virgin Hotels Collection team for seven months, I have seen first-hand the strength of this business and the opportunity ahead,” said Margison. “Virgin Hotels and Virgin Limited Edition are distinct brands united by the same Virgin spirit: brilliant people, service with real warmth and character and experiences guests remember long after they leave. We have a strong foundation and a significant opportunity ahead. I’m excited to lead the business through its next chapter of growth.”
Margison’s appointment comes at a significant moment for Virgin Hotels Collection as it continues to build momentum across its global portfolio, with a pipeline of landmark developments across key gateway cities and resort destinations. This includes the recently announced Virgin Hotels Atlanta at Centennial Yards and Virgin Limited Edition’s forthcoming property in Marrakech, both scheduled to open in 2027.
