Virgin Hotels appoint development VP

Virgin Group’s nascent brand Virgin Hotels has appointed David Kuperberg as its senior vice president of development.

Prior to joining the Virgin Hotels team, Kuperberg served as Vice President of Development for Wyndham Hotel Group. Kuperberg was responsible for both international and domestic expansion, including identifying, valuing and negotiating the acquisition of the TRYP brand from Sol Meliá, representing 94 hotels across Europe and South America.

Kuperberg was also responsible for managing the team responsible for the strategy, valuation and negotiations to franchise the Planet Hollywood Hotels brand and provide management services and structuring and negotiating Wyndham’s strategic alliance with Chatwal Hotels & Resorts, resulting in the exclusive development rights to the Dream and Night boutique brands.

“David will lead our talented development team, which has already generated tremendous interest and exciting property opportunities,” said Anthony Marino, head of Virgin Hotels and managing partner of leisure and hospitality at Virgin Group. “With David’s leadership and versatile experience in both strategic and property transactions, Virgin Hotels will accelerate the rate at which we bring to life our exceptional hotels for Virgin’s 60 million customers around the world.”

Virgin Hotels recently announced its first development deal in Chicago.
