Under Canvas to debut in New Mexico with Santa Fe camp

Under Canvas announced that Under Canvas Santa Fe will open in April 2027, marking the brand’s first location in New Mexico and its 18th property within the portfolio.

The camp is set across 640 acres of high desert outside Santa Fe at an elevation of 6,321 feet, adjacent to the nearly 10,000-acre Galisteo Basin Preserve. The property offers access to more than 44 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding, and is 30 minutes from the Santa Fe Plaza.

The property will operate April through October and offer 45 safari-inspired canvas tents along with temperature-controlled, hard-sided cabins to come. Rates start at $279 per night plus taxes and fees. The debut also introduces several firsts for the brand: saunas, a dedicated event tent and cabins alongside its canvas tents.

“Santa Fe is one of the great American destinations, a place where art, culture and cuisine are deeply connected to the landscape,” said Noah Brodsky, CEO of Under Canvas. “We’re excited to bring our signature outdoor experience to New Mexico and create a new way for guests to experience this remarkable region, from exploring the trails of the Galisteo Basin and discovering Santa Fe’s galleries and culinary scene to gathering around the fire beneath the open night sky.”

Tents will span three settings an upper terrace near the lobby, a juniper-covered middle slope and a lower meadow and include a private deck, a suite bathroom, king-size bed, wood-burning stove and in-tent cooling. Three tent types will be offered: Deluxe, Stargazer and Suites, with select tents offering an adjacent Kids Tent.

A dedicated event tent spanning 1,885 square feet and an adjoining 1,605-square-foot deck will support groups, with seated capacity for 80 guests and reception capacity for approximately 130. Full camp buyout accommodates 45 tents and up to 130 guests.

The property will follow DarkSky International’s principles for outdoor lighting and incorporate the brand’s Mindful Approach, including recycled furnishings, pull-chain showers, low-flow toilets and rechargeable battery packs.
