The Standard, High Line has announced the appointment of Dieter Schmitz as managing director, who brings more than 20 years of luxury and lifestyle hospitality experience.
Over the course of his career, Schmitz has led eight major hotel openings, redevelopments and renovations across New York, Washington, D.C., Arizona and California, with experience spanning Accor, IHG, Marriott and independent hospitality groups. He joins The Standard, High Line following his role as general manager of Sofitel New York, where he oversaw the hotel’s comprehensive renovation of its 398 guest rooms and public spaces.
Previously, Schmitz served as general manager of Lore Group’s Riggs DC, where he led the company’s U.S. debut, and subsequently oversaw the $100 million redevelopment and opening of ADERO Scottsdale, Autograph Collection. He has also opened and operated three new-build Manhattan hotels for IHG.
