The St. Regis Punta Mita adds new GM

The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort has appointed Richard Sorensen as general manager.

Sorensen brings over 30 years of luxury hospitality experience to his new role. Most recently, he served as general manager of a luxury beach resort in Encinitas, Calif., following senior leadership roles at several properties in Los Cabos.

His career also includes 13 years with Four Seasons and leadership positions with The Peninsula Hotels in New York, Chicago and Tokyo.

“I first came to Punta Mita for the surf, long before I imagined leading a resort here,” Sorensen said. “Returning in this role is particularly meaningful. I look forward to getting to know our returning guests and travel advisor partners, welcoming new visitors and working with the team to give people reasons to return.

Situated amid 22 acres in Mexico’s Punta de Mita, the resort unveiled a comprehensive property-wide transformation in 2024, encompassing all common areas and public spaces, the introduction of five beachfront villas, redesigned suites and guest rooms, enhancements to The St. Regis Spa, the launch of new restaurants and bar concepts, updates to the resort’s outdoor wedding venues and the introduction of the Marietas Pool.
