The Park brand expanding in India

Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels, which operates The Park brand in India, has launched a Rs 1,500 crore (US$284 million) expansion plan to double its room count to 2,200 rooms within five years, according to a Monday report from The Hindu Business Line.

Expansion plans include a second hotel in Kolkata, as well as new luxury boutique hotels in Jaipur, Pune, Goa and Kochi. The Kolkata-based group last opened a hotel in Hyderabad in April.

Manaing Director Vijay Dewan told Business Line 850 rooms would be added as an owner-operator while 250 rooms would come via management deals.

Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels also will enter the serviced apartments segment with its second property in Kolkata, which will have 100 serviced apartments catering to business travelers. The hotel is scheduled to open in 2016.
