Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Villas, set on 300 acres in San Antonio, has completed a more than $100-million transformation, marking the final stage of its multi-year renovation. The resort, which now features The Big Spring 2.2-acre lagoon, the waterfront Rancher Hall event venue and state-of-the-art Toptracer Range golf bays, celebrated with a ranch-inspired ribbon-cutting using barbed wire.
“After three years of enhancing our resort experience, we are proud to announce the completion of this extensive renovation project,” said Steve Smith, GM of Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Villas. “From the addition of Texas’ newest beach to standalone villas, every enhancement was designed to preserve the warm, welcoming atmosphere that defines our resort and inspires guests to return year after year. These updates represent our dedication of evolving with our customers and enhancing their experience on property.”

The resort honors the history of its Rogers-Wiseman Ranch location, a cattle ranch that operated for more than a century. The Big Spring, powered by Crystal Lagoons® technology, is the first lagoon of its kind in a central U.S. resort, offering white sand beaches, premium cabanas, and water sports.
“The opening of the lagoon marks an exciting new chapter for Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Villas and sets a new benchmark for resort experiences,” said Nicolás Galotti, Regional director of Crystal Lagoons. “By incorporating a Crystal Lagoons® amenity as part of its broader redevelopment, the resort is bringing beach life to Central Texas and creating a truly differentiated destination.”
Adjacent is Aunt Di’s Comfort Station, inspired by a family member of the resort’s developer. “Aunt Di has a unique gift of hospitality that makes everyone feel like they’re part of the family,” said King Scovell, managing partner and Chief Development Officer of Woodbine. “Her warmth creates a sense of belonging that we want to extend to every resort visitor.”
Rancher Hall, the indoor/outdoor event venue overlooking The Big Spring, offers 5,600 square feet of flexible space with vaulted ceilings, glass walls, and a patio surrounded by live oak trees.
The summer of 2025 saw the debut of five standalone villas named after Hill Country rivers, each with four bedrooms, private en-suite bathrooms, fully equipped kitchens, patios, and exclusive access to Windflower Spa.
Enhancements include Toptracer Range™ golf bays at Hill Country Golf Club, renovated Windflower Spa, upgraded guestrooms, refreshed indoor event spaces, and updated dining outlets including Antlers Lodge, Cactus Oak Tavern, Charlie’s Long Bar, and the new Woodbine Bar.
The Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Villas now stands as a central Texas destination combining luxury, recreation, and historic charm.
