Swissôtel to open in Sanya, China, as part of golf resort

Swissôtel Sanya is scheduled to open in Sanya, China, in the southernmost part of Hainan Island as part of the 660-acre (267-hectare) Sanya Dragon Valley Hot Spring & Golf Resort.

The property will offer 300 rooms and suites with a minimum size of 538 sq ft (50 sq m), four restaurants and bars, more than 21,000 sq ft (2,000 sq m) of meeting and event space as well as Pürovel Spa & Sport facilities.

Swissôtel is partnering on the project with Sanya-based Hainan Zhongdu Real Estate Development Co., which is expected to invest US$950 million on the project.

“As we are already successfully managing four elegant business hotels in the People’s Republic of China, with an additional Swissôtel being built in Chengdu, a leisure resort in the booming tourist area of Sanya is an optimal addition to our brand,” said Meinhard Huck, president of Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts, Zurich.

Sanya Dragon Valley Hot Spring & Golf Resort, which will include Swissôtel Sanya, features one of the most exclusive 18-hole golf courses in the region.
