Steve Wynn Buys US$23m Penthouse In NYC Plaza Hotel

NEW YORK CITY Steve Wynn has purchased a lavish four-bedroom, nine-room penthouse inside New York City’s luxurious Plaza Hotel, owner El-Ad Properties confirms.

Wynn paid a reported US$23 million for the 20th-floor space, which includes a private elevator and a 24-ft.-long terrace overlooking Central Park. The asking price for the condominium was US$24 million; in 2007, the unit sold for US$31 million, but the buyer filed a lawsuit to back out of the deal, according to The Wall Street Journal. The unit totals 5,613 sq. ft.

The Plaza is owned by El-Ad Properties and is managed by Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. El-Ad says Wynn immediately signed a contract for the unit upon touring it in May. The penthouse, designed by architect Gal Nauer, is fully furnished by Italy furniture design house Giorgetti with lighting and glasswork accessories by Venini.

“Mr. Wynn is a man of discerning and sophisticated taste who appreciates true luxury and the unique opportunity afforded by this exceptional turnkey residence,” says El-Ad President and CEO Miki Naftali. “Obviously, he has the ability to select from the very best New York has to offer. We are delighted to welcome him to The Plaza.”
