Steigenberger to open Grandhotels in Leipzig, Usedom

FRANKFURT The Steigenberger Hotel Group announces plans to open Steigenberger Grandhotels in Leipzig, Germany, and on the Baltic island of Usedom in the coastal resort of Heringsdorf in 2011.

The 165-key Steigenberger Grandhotel Leipzig will open in a converted office building, while the 150-key Steigenberger Grandhotel Heringsdorf will include 40 private-ownership “Seaside Residencies.”

Steigenberger also has two major renovation projects under way, in Stuttgart and Duesseldorf.

Steigenberger Parkhotel Düsseldorf the Steigenberger Hotels AG invests €10 million in a new concept and further development of this luxury hotel. The main focus of the refurbishment is on the entrance area, restaurants, bar and guestrooms.

Meanwhile, Steigenberger Graf Zeppelin in Stuttgart is undergoing a €17 million renovation and rebuilding program to reduce the number of guestrooms from 190 to 155 while increasing the size of each. The lobby and the events area are also being refurbished. Renovation work is to be completed by summer 2011.

Steigenberger operates 78 hotels under the brand names Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts and InterCityHotel in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Egypt.
