stayAPT Suites, the apartment-style hotel brand, is expanding its footprint and has teamed up with Powerhouse Hotels, a joint venture between JCap Realty Group and Cullinan Holdings.
stayAPT and Powerhouse have signed a multi-unit development agreement, adding 30 new properties to stayAPT’s portfolio. The new additions will widen the brand’s presence to 25 states in the next five years, with six properties scheduled to break ground this year.

A veteran in the extended-stay segment, DeLapp has served as president and CEO of WoodSpring Hotels, Extended Stay Hotels and Affordable Suites of America.
stayAPT currently has 22 open hotels, mostly centered in the Southeast, and is working to achieve a total portfolio of 40 properties by the end of this year. The brand focuses on new-build projects, flexible prototype sizes and aims to offer a uniform standard across its portfolio.
Offering a “hybrid between multi-family and hotel,” stayAPT aligns with Powerhouse Hotels’ vision for investing in the hospitality sector, said Brian Johnson, managing partner of Powerhouse Hotels.
stayAPT is committed to building a portfolio of corporate-owned hotels, alongside franchising.
The Matthews, N.C.-based brand ventured into the extended-stay segment with an announcement of its new hotel concept in January 2020. Featuring suites with more than 500 square feet, the room layout includes a dedicated living area, a full kitchen and a separate bedroom. The rooms have a sleeper sofa, lounge chair and a 55-inch television, full-size stove, oven, dishwasher, microwave and refrigerator. The bedrooms comprise a walk-in closet, separate television and working space.
All stayAPT hotels are pet-friendly and offer a fitness center, onsite laundry as well as an outdoor courtyard with a fire pit and grill station.
Earlier this month, stayAPT opened its latest hotel in College Station, Texas, marking its fifth property in Texas.
