Starwood customer service agents use video chat technology

WHITE PLAINS, NEW YORK Starwood Preferred Guest members can now connect with the customer service agents using FaceTime, Apple’s video calling technology that is available on iPhone 4, the new iPod touch and the latest Macintosh operating system.

When SPG members call a dedicated number from their FaceTime-equipped device, an SPG customer service representative will answer on camera. “Apple’s innovative technology allows us to provide a meaningful, personalized experience that will resonate with our most loyal customers,” says David Godsman, vice president of global web services for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide.

“We find customers enjoy seeing the person behind the voice,” says Mike English, vice president of Starwood’s customer contact centers. “FaceTime is a great way for representatives of our over 1,000 hotels in the Starwood family to interact with guests in a very personal way.”
