Southern Sun rebrands Nairobi Holiday Inn

NAIROBI Southern Sun Hotels has signed a 10-year management deal to rebrand Holiday Inn Nairobi.

The hotel will become Southern Sun Mayfair Nairobi on August 1 in advance of a KSH80 million (US$1 million) renovation project that will focus on improving conference facilities. It will be positioned as a 4-star deluxe business hotel.

General Manager Paul Norman says the rebranding is part of Southern Sun’s strategy to consolidate on existing properties in Africa before venturing into new territories, Capital Business reports. “There is no question Southern Sun wants to invest and develop in East Africa. We want to look at new facilities where we already have some (presence) rather than going to new areas,” Norman says.

The property is owned by Parklane Plaza Ltd.
