Sonesta International Hotels Corporation has announced the opening of Sonesta Resort Curacao, a 196-room property located overlooking Jan Thiel Beach near Willemstad.
“The opening of this new Sonesta Hotels, Resorts & Cruises location in Curacao reflects Sonesta’s broader commitment to continued expansion in Latin America and the Caribbean,” said Keith Pierce, co-CEO of Sonesta International Hotels. “We are excited to grow Sonesta’s footprint with this beautiful resort, expanding the portfolio’s strength and brand awareness in a highly sought-after destination.”
The opening marks Sonesta’s return to the Dutch Caribbean. The company operated hotels in Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao in the 1990s and again in 2015-2016 in Curacao.
“The resort offers a variety of accommodations, including villas, apartments, and traditional guest rooms,” said Atilay Uslu, founder and CEO of Corendon Hotels & Resorts. “Our vision is straightforward, to create a space where every guest finds their ideal balance of fun and relaxation. Set in one of Curacao’s most iconic neighborhoods, surrounded by palm trees, tropical breezes and year-round sunshine, this hotel captures the true spirit of the island. As CEO, I’m proud of our team’s commitment to delivering memorable experiences and exceptional hospitality, ensuring every stay is as special as the destination itself.”
The property features an outdoor swimming pool, a five-star PADI dive center and direct beach access. Additional amenities include an Italian-inspired restaurant and bar, water sports, a fitness center and spa services. Guests may earn or redeem points through Sonesta’s Travel Pass loyalty program.
Sonesta Hotels, Resorts & Cruises emphasizes wellness and well-being, fostering connections between staff and guests while maintaining alignment between each property and its surroundings.
