Schrager creates novel LivingSocial offer

Hotelier and master marketer Ian Schrager is wasting no time trumpeting his new PUBLIC brand via the flash sales route. Today, LivingSocial Escapes started offering an opening party package for PUBLIC Chicago on October 11, which cleverly includes two tickets to the opening party and an overnight stay in a suite, plus breakfast at The Pump Room, late check out, champagne and other in-room amenities for US$900.

In fact, the LivingSocial flash sale site has several offers from PUBLIC Chicago, ranging from US$170 up to US$2,500. The US$170 option is for a standard room with an upgrade to a superior room (not for the opening party), while for US$2,500, guests receive four opening party tickets and a stay in the penthouse. The website offers several different pricing options for the various room types available for purchase through August 17, 2011.

PUBLIC Chicago is scheduled to open in September as the new understated luxury brand from The Ian Schrager Company. The LivingSocial promotion refers to the hotel as follows: “Each abode boasts basic, clean colors, smooth lines, and necessities like free Wi-Fi. Downstairs, guests mingle in the living room or the library. Both sport comfortable seating areas, computers, and communal worktables, plus a screening room for favorite movies, performances, and more.”

Since its launch in November 2010, LivingSocial Escapes has booked more than 400,000 room nights.
