Ruby Hotels to open its second U.S. property in New York

Ruby Hotels, an urban lifestyle hotel brand within IHG Hotels & Resorts’ premium portfolio, will open its first New York City property following the signing of Ruby New York City. The deal marks the brand’s second U.S. signing in a matter of months, joining a previously announced Chicago hotel, with both properties projected to open in 2027.

Ruby New York City will occupy a renovated 18-story building originally constructed in the 1930s on Manhattan’s Avenue of the Americas. The property will feature 187 rooms and a 24/7 lobby bar accessible to hotel guests and local visitors. Renovation work is set to begin later this year. The hotel’s location positions guests within walking distance of Herald Square, the Empire State Building and Madison Square Garden.

AC Developers, a local hotel, residential and commercial developer, will own the property. Aimbridge Hospitality will manage operations.

“Ruby’s arrival in New York City reflects our momentum in bringing the brand’s distinctive experience and flexible model to major U.S. urban markets,” said Jolyon Bulley, CEO of Americas for IHG. “With two properties now planned in iconic, gateway cities, we’re just beginning to unlock Ruby’s growth potential. We also look forward to building on our longstanding relationship with the team at AC Developers to make New York’s first Ruby a must-stay destination.”

“New York City is the ideal home for Ruby Hotels, a brand that balances an inviting and memorable lifestyle experience while appealing to cost- and style-conscious travelers,” said Andrew Weiss, co-founder of AC Developers. “We welcome the opportunity to bring the first Ruby hotel to New York in collaboration with IHG.”

Founded in Germany in 2013, Ruby Hotels operates 40 open and pipeline properties, primarily across Europe. IHG has set a target of growing the Ruby brand to more than 120 global hotels over the next decade and more than 250 over the next 20 years. Ruby’s 2026 global signings to date also include its first planned hotel in Belgium and new properties in Germany and Italy.

Ruby New York City joins recent IHG openings in the market, including Kimpton Era Midtown, Kimpton Ashbel New York – Park Avenue and the voco hotels Times Square property, a 32-story hotel also owned by AC Developers. IHG’s Crowne Plaza brand is also expected to return to Times Square later this year.
