RoomOne, a company specializing in the recycling of Packaged Terminal Air Conditioners (PTACs), has reached a significant milestone by partnering with its 1,000th hotel property for environmentally responsible disposal of outdated units. As the hospitality industry increasingly prioritizes sustainable practices, RoomOne continues to provide a cost-free solution for hotels seeking compliant and eco-friendly PTAC disposal.
Major hotel brands and owner-operators, including IHG, Red Roof, Concord, Pyramid, LBA, Stoneridge Companies, National Hospitality Services and McNeill Hotel Company, have joined RoomOne to prevent millions of pounds of waste. PTAC units, common in hotels, contain refrigerants that can harm the environment if improperly discarded and violate the Clean Air Act. Without a structured recycling plan, these units often end up in dumpsters, creating unnecessary waste and potential regulatory risks.
RoomOne provides a nationwide recycling service, collecting and repurposing units or responsibly breaking them down. By monetizing recovered materials, the company covers freight and processing fees, enabling hotels to participate in sustainable waste management without extra costs.
“We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone of partnering with our 1,000th hotel property,” said Tyler Oberholzer, spokesperson from RoomOne. “This achievement highlights the growing awareness in the hospitality industry of the need for responsible PTAC disposal. Many hotel operators don’t realize they have a PTAC recycling issue until they face logistical challenges or compliance concerns. Our goal is to make the solution easy, seamless and completely free.”
Recycling thousands of PTAC units annually, RoomOne helps hotels avoid disposal fees and supports sustainability efforts beyond energy and water conservation. As it expands partnerships, the company urges hotels to adopt proactive recycling before disposal challenges arise. “The solution exists,” added Tyler. “The challenge is making sure hoteliers know where to turn before they’re left scrambling for last-minute disposal options. We’re here to make it simple, cost-free and environmentally sound.”
