Rezidor announces Radisson Blu Sortland, Norway

SORTLAND, NORWAY The Rezidor Hotel Group announces a new-build Radisson Blu project in Sortland, Norway, scheduled to open in 2013.

The 168-key Radisson Blu Sortland will be located at a waterfront site in the city center. It will offer an all-day restaurant with outdoor seating, a lobby bar, 300 sq. m of meeting space and a 1,500-sq-m leisure area including two pools, two Jacuzzis, five treatment rooms, saunas and a climbing wall.

Sortland, a small city in northern Norway, is a destination for hiking, cycling, boating, whale-watching and fishing in the summer, and dog sledding and views of the Northern Lights during winter. It is also a stop on the popular Hurtigruten cruises.

Rezidor’s portfolio in Norway comprises 30 hotels in operation and under development with a total of 6,800 guestrooms. Rezidor specializes in city hotels such as the flagship Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Oslo, but also is growing its airport hotel and resort portfolio. In Norway, the group recently opened Park Inn Oslo Airport and offers resorts in Beitostølen and Trysil.

Rezidor ranks 15th on the 2010 edition of HOTELS’ 325, the annual listing of the world’s largest hotel companies that is being published this month.
