RevPAR climbs 3.6% during Christmas week in U.S.

UNITED STATES Hotels in the United States saw increases across the key metrics during the week of Christmas, compared to the same period a year ago, according to data from STR.

Occupancy improved 2.2% to 34.6%, while ADR climbed 1.4% to US$87.13. RevPAR finished the week of December 19 to 25 up 3.6% year over year, to US$30.16, STR reports. The upscale segment saw the strongest growth during the holiday week, with RevPAR improving 12.3% to US$33.26.

Among city markets, none posted better year-over-year improvements than Minnesapolis-St. Paul, where occupancy rose 20.4% to 31.6% and RevPAR gained 30.5% to US$23.54. Posting the nation’s highest occupancy rate during the week was Oahu, which reached 76.2% with ADR of US$179.16.
