Renaissance Hotels debuts film-based digital game

Renaissance Hotels has launched an interactive film-based gaming experience, Discovery Doors, created by New York communications agency Anomaly and directed by Jason Zada.

The game enables users to explore an actual Renaissance hotel online while unlocking surprise elements. Players are prompted to find “keys” that open doors to discoveries such as the filming of a silent movie or a 1980s breakdance battle. They then have a chance to win more than 500 prizes including stays at Renaissance Hotels as well as culinary and shopping offers. Players also can collect keys and win prizes via Twitter or by checking into a Renaissance Hotel in person or via Foursquare.

To introduce the game, the Marriott International brand partnered with CeeLo Green, chief creative officer for Primary Wave Music, to surprise a family at the Renaissance New York Hotel 57 with an intimate serenade as they opened their guestroom door.

“During every stay at a Renaissance Hotel we want to inspire our guests to discover something new and unexpected,” said Dan Vinh, vice president of global marketing for Renaissance Hotels. “Discovery Doors brings this idea to life through a fun virtual digital experience that engages travelers to experience Renaissance Hotels, unlock some surprising moments and win cool prizes.”
