After opening its first location in Chicago last month, Ian Schrager’s new brand Public is set to enter his native New York City, The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.
Public New York will be located on the lower 16 floors of a 56-story residential tower being developed in Manhattan by Durst Fetner Residential, New York City. The mid-tier lifestyle brand, which Schrager said in a past interview competes with the Courtyard by Marriott and Hilton Garden Inn brands, is also set for expansion in London after the Ian Schrager Co. won a US$119 million bid for a Crowne Plaza there.
Schrager told The Wall Street Journal that Public New York’s rates would start at US$300, notably higher than Public Chicago’s US$135.
