Pritzkers to sell Chicago’s Hyatt Center

CHICAGO The Pritzker family is close to a deal to sell the 49-story Hyatt Center to The Irvine Co. for about US$625 million.

The building, which contains about 1.5 million sq. ft. of office space, houses the headquarters of the Pritzker-controlled Hyatt Hotels Corp. The deal could close by Friday, The Wall Street Journal reports.

One of Chicago’s more distinctive skyscrapers, the curved-glass and stainless-steel tower was designed by Henry N. Cobb, who also designed Boston’s John Hancock Tower. The building opened in 2004 and is about 96% leased.
