The Best Western Lake Buena Vista Resort Hotel has named Sharif Aboushaba as its new general manager. Aboushaba previously served the Westmont Hospitality Group as general manager of the Hilton Melbourne Beach and the Doubletree Oceanfront Hotel & Suites in Florida.
Lakeway Resort and Spa, Austin, Texas, has hired Jeff Axline as executive chef. Axline was most recently executive sous chef at The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa.
Lee Chipman has been named managing director of the 351-room Hilton Panama and 220-room The Panamera, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel, scheduled to open in late 2011. Chipman most recently served as general manager, Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort, Mexico.
Richfield Hospitality has named Thomas Clearwater senior vice president of sales for the company’s 24-hotel portfolio. Prior to joining Richfield, Clearwater was vice president of sales and special events for the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
Katherine Collins joins Mandarin Oriental, Boston Residences as director of operations, primary trust. Prior, she served as general manager of Bryant Back Bay Condominiums for Barkan Management.
Jean-Paul Herzog, the former president of Middle East and Africa for Hilton Hotels Corp., joins Dedeman Hotels & Resorts International as a board member.
Michael Lindenbaum has been named vice president of operations for Hampshire Hotels and Resorts and managing director for the soon-to-open Dream Downtown property in New York City. Lindenbaum’s experience includes opening hotels for Gotham Hospitality, HK Hotels, Gansevoort Hotel Group and Richard Born and Ira Druckier.
Hyatt Carmel Highlands in California has appointed Jacques Melac as new outlets manager for the hotel’s food and beverage outlets. Melac joins the hotel from Rancho Cellars, his own fine wine retail store in Carmel.
Sean Shannon has been appointed to the newly created position of vice president of development for Canada, Carlson Hotels, Americas. Shannon, a 14-year veteran of Carlson, was most recently senior regional director, franchise operations, Carlson Hotels, Americas.
Benchmark Hospitality International has named Maryann White general manager of The Heldrich Hotel and Conference Center in New Brunswick, New Jersey. White recently served as general manager of the Westin Times Square.
