People on the move: Viceroy Hotels, Alaia Belize, The Morrow Hotel, The Villa Group Resorts, Meyer Jabara Hotels, Virgin Hotels

Viceroy Hotels & Resorts has announced the appointment of industry veteran Yoav Gery as chief development officer.  

Gery was most recently President of Knotel, a hospitality-focused, flexible office company with operations in several US and European regions. Before joining Knotel, he was president of Selina, a global hospitality business with over 100 properties across five continents, and WeWork’s Head of International Real Estate, where he was in charge of expanding the WeWork brand into many international markets.

Alaia Belize Autograph Collection, one of Belize’s major beachfront resorts, has appointed Scott McArdle as general manager. With more than 10 years of luxury hospitality experience and working with branded resorts, McArdle served as the general manager at Virgin Hotels and Place Hotels in Edinburgh, Scrub Island Resort Spa & Marina in the British Virgin Islands and Perle Oban Hotel & Spa in Glasgow.   

Tauseen Malik has been named general manager of The Morrow Hotel in Washington, D.C. Malik joins The Morrow from neighboring Washington D.C. property, Yours Truly DC Hotel, where he held the position of General Manager from 2021 to 2023. He has 20+ years of experience and has worked with well-known lifestyle hotel companies in countries such as the U.S., the U.K, Saudi Arabia, Mumbai and others.

The Villa Group Resorts, the hospitality brand with a collection of family-friendly beach resorts in five of Mexico’s most popular destinations, has appointed Sandor J. Winkler as corporate director of sales & marketing for the luxury resort brand. Winkler will be in charge of leading the sales and marketing efforts for all resorts in the Villa Group’s portfolio, which includes the Pacific beach destinations of Puerto Vallarta, Riviera Nayarit and Cabo San Lucas. Winkler’s experience includes serving as vice president of sales & marketing at The Fives Hotels & Residences and as a chief development officer at Palace Resorts. 

Meyer Jabara Hotels has promoted Heather Sanborn to corporate director of revenue management. Previously serving as regional director of revenue management, Sanborn is now responsible for overseeing the entire portfolio and assisting regional revenue managers in their day-to-day tasks. Before joining Meyer Jabara Hotels, Sanborn served as a senior regional revenue manager for Chartwell Hospitality, a post she held for over a decade. She also worked as director of revenue management at Embassy Suites Nashville Vanderbilt, director of reservations for Mandarin Oriental Washington, D.C. and both assistant operations manager and reservations manager for Lowes Hotels in Nashville and Washington D.C., respectively. 

Virgin Hotels has appointed Abigail Trangmar as director of global sales in the U.K. Trangmar will oversee sales initiatives and cross-collaborate with stakeholders across Virgin Group to drive revenue growth and expand brand presence for Virgin Hotels within the U.K. market. With over 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Trangmar brings a wealth of knowledge to Virgin Hotels. She most recently served for six years as destination manager at leading transatlantic tour operator Virgin Atlantic Holidays.
