People on the move: The Set Collection, Hotel X Toronto, Sheraton

Jean-Luc Naret has joined The Set Collection, London, United Kingdom, as executive director and global brand leader.

The brand launched earlier this year as a new luxury representation company of like-minded independent hotels. It has been designed for owners, investors and management teams seeking an alternative to the traditional representation and distribution service.

In his role, Naret will be responsible for growing the brand by offering tailored services to support owners and operators, as well as their existing teams.

Naret was most recently CEO for La Reserve Hotels & Spas, Ramatuelle, France, where he was in charge of a collection of six hotels and five private homes with a team of 600.

Sage Hospitality Group, Denver, Colorado, announced the promotion of Jason Altberger to chief financial officer for Sage Hospitality Group and the promotion of Dean Stambules to senior vice president acquisitions and business development for Sage Investments.

Adero Scottsdale, an Autograph Collection hotel, Scottsdale, Arizona, announced the appointment of Kenneth Arneson as executive chef. Previously, Arneson was the executive chef at the Canopy Hotel by Hilton Tempe Downtown in Tempe, Arizona.

Residence Inn Tampa Wesley Chapel, Tampa, Florida, has announced the appointment of Luke Bauknecht as assistant general manager and Taryn Sousa as sales executive. Bauknecht was most recently assistant general manager of the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott in Clearwater, Florida. Prior to joining the Residence Inn team, Sousa was the global account director of Hyatt Hotels Corp., Chicago, Illinois.

​Graton Resort & Casino, Rohnert Park, California, has named William Becker as vice president of food and beverage. He has more than 20 years of experience in the industry.

Spire Hospitality, Irving, Texas, has appointed the following executives to its management team: Stephanie Box to vice president of operations; Roger Barrantes to regional director of sales and marketing; Dustin Soper to social media manager; and Teri Serrano to regional director of human resources. Most recently, Box served as senior vice president of operations for Highgate Hotels. Barrantes previously worked at Hilton headquarters. Soper was previously at StepStone Hospitality. Serrano most recently served as the area director of human resources at Access Hotels and Resorts, Celebration, Florida.

Islander Resort, an Independent Collection Hotels & Resorts property, Islamorada, Florida, has named Julius Brown as its new resort chef. Brown has previously worked with Hershey Entertainment & Resorts, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Omni Hotels & Resorts, and more.

The Spa at The Equinox at the Equinox Golf Resort & Spa in Manchester, Vermont, has named Katherine Brown spa director. Brown was most recently in Park City, Utah, where she served as retail supervisor and spa coordinator at Montage Deer Valley.

The Shore Club Turks & Caicos announced that human resources leader Danitra Clare will be rejoining the property as HR Director. Danitra worked at The Shore Club from 2018-2021 before joining the opening team at The Ritz-Carlton, Turks and Caicos. After nearly a year, she is returning to The Shore Club.

Deloitte, New York City, announced the appointment of Mike Daher to lead non-attest services for the transportation, hospitality and services (TH&S) sector in the United States. During his more than 23 years with Deloitte, Daher has held several client and business leadership roles, most recently serving as transportation subsector leader.

Malibu Beach Inn, Los Angeles, California, announced the appointment of David Fricaud as executive chef of Carbon Beach Club, the hotel’s signature all-day dining concept. Fricaud joins the CBC team from his most recent role as executive chef for the French general consulate in Beverly Hills, California.

Elizabeth Gallant has been selected as general manager of the Max Beach Resort – Daytona Beach Shores, Florida. Gallant has served as general manager – spending more than 10 years in this role at three resorts in the area – and has vast experience managing sales teams as well.

Hotel X Toronto by Library Hotel Collection, Toronto, Canada, announced the appointment of Fariyal Hasham to the title of managing director. Hasham has been with the property for three years and most recently served as general manager. Luciana Junqueira was also appointed to the title of director of front office and guest services. She spent the last six years with Hyatt’s corporate office in Chicago, Illinois.

The St. Regis San Francisco, California, announced the appointment of Roger Huldi to the position of general manager. Huldi joins The St. Regis San Francisco after eight years as general manager of W San Francisco.

Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village, Cape Coral, Florida, announced the appointment of Barry Kadel as the resort’s general manager. Most recently, Kadel served as general manager of the Charleston Marriott Town Center in Charleston, West Virginia.

The Sanctuary Beach Resort, Monterey Bay, California, announced the appointment of two new members of the resort’s food and beverage leadership team. Josh Kutcher has been named director of food and beverage and Chris Watts is the resort’s new executive chef. Kutcher was previously director of food and beverage at Harrah’s Northern California. Watts was previously executive chef at The Ritz-Carlton Destination Club in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.

Flamingo Resort, Santa Rosa, California, announced the appointment of Michael Palmer as general leader. He was previously general manager of Meritage Resort and Spa in Napa Valley, California. Jeff Morris has also joined the Flamingo Resort property-level team as director of operations. He was most recently at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Newmark Group, New York City, announced the expansion of its Lodging Capital Markets Group with two new hires: Nick Pappas, a senior managing director based in Los Angeles, and Parker Sherrill, a director based in Dallas. Pappas joins Newmark from Canyon Partner, Los Angeles, California. Sherrill joins from JLL, Chicago, Illinois.

Timber Cove Resort, Jenner, California, welcomed Jason Reiplinger as managing director and Brendalee Vialpando as executive chef. Reiplinger was most recently managing director at the Bodega Bay Lodge, Bodega Bay, California. Vialpando also joins Timber Cove from Bodega Bay Lodge, where she most recently served as executive chef.

The Westin Tempe, Arizona, has appointed Alexander Robinson as the executive chef of the hotel’s signature restaurant, Terra Tempe Kitchen + Spirits. Robinson has more than two decades experience leading the culinary operations at a number of hotel brands across the country, including at the Royal Palms and We-Ko-Pa Resorts in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Marriott International announced that Executive Vice President and Global Chief Human Resources Officer David Rodriguez will step down from his role at the end of October and retire at the end of 2021. The company also announced that long-time Marriott Human Resources executive Ty Breland has been named to succeed Rodriguez. Prior to joining Marriott International, Rodriguez held various human resources leadership positions at Citicorp (now Citigroup), New York City.

Villa del Palmar at the Islands of Loreto by Danzante Bay, Loreto, Mexico, has appointed Eduardo Rojas as general manager. Rojas most recently launched two fine dining restaurants in Mexico City with the Zea Group, and served as director general for Stara Boutique Hotels in Mexico City.

Shutters on the Beach, Santa Monica, California, announced the appointment of Sean Michael Runyon as executive chef of 1 Pico, its premiere restaurant. His most recent position was chef de cuisine for the ultra-luxe Discovery Land private clubs in the Bahamas.

Hilton San Francisco Union Square, California, announced Marcelo Salinas as executive chef. Salinas previously served as executive chef for Fairmont the Palm in Dubai, and Cairo Marriott Hotel & Omar Khayyam Casino, Egypt.

Florida-based Mainsail Lodging & Development and IDP Properties have announced the appointment of Jimmy Teixeira as director of sales of Hotel Forty Five, Macon, Georgia. Prior to Hotel Forty Five, Teixeira served as director of sales at Tru by Hilton Downtown St. Petersburg, Florida.

Hotel management firm Midas Hospitality, St. Louis, Missouri, appointed Carrie Van Nest as director of business development. Prior to joining Midas Hospitality, she held numerous positions at a multinational hospitality company where she focused on marketing and sales generation.

BEI San Francisco, Trademark Collection by Wyndham, California, announced the appointment of Craig Waterman as general manager. Waterman most recently served as managing director of the former Parker New York (now Thompson Central Park New York), New York City.

Hotel owner, operator and development firm Hotel Equities, Atlanta, Georgia, announced Mark Williams has been appointed as the company’s senior vice president of business development. Williams brings nearly 20 years of experience to the team.

Sonesta International Hotels Corp., Newton, Massachusetts, announced Len Wolin as senior vice president of hotel operations. He most recently worked at Club Quarters, Stamford, Connecticut.

The Sheraton Denver Downtown, Colorado, announced the addition of three new team members: Leorah Young as senior catering sales executive; Jessica Swensen as destination sales executive; and Chris Beck as senior sales executive. Deseri Martinez has also been promoted to senior sales executive. Young was previously director of catering sales at The JW Marriott Cherry Creek in Denver. Previously, Swensen was destination sales executive at The Renaissance Chicago, Illinois. Prior to sales, Beck held various management positions in operation. For the past three years, Martinez has served as the destination sales executive for The Sheraton Denver Downtown.
