People on the Move: Scandic, Mandarin Hong Kong, Pimalai

Scandic Hotels, Stockholm, Sweden, has appointed Thérèse Cedercreutz as chief commercial officer and member of the group’s Executive Committee.

Cedercreutz has solid and extensive international experience from leading positions in business development and other commercial roles. She has held leading positions in the technology and software industry where she led strategic transformation and digitalization projects. Her most recent position is senior advisor and management consultant at Miltton Group, Finland, Sweden. For the past one and half years, she has also been a member of Scandic’s Board of Directors.

“I am happy that Thérèse is joining us as chief commercial officer and member of the Executive Committee,” said Jens Mathiesen, President & CEO of Scandic Hotels Group. “Both Scandic and the hotel market have recovered quickly after the pandemic and with two record quarters behind us, it’s now time to accelerate our commercial development to further strengthen our leading position in the Nordic countries. Thérèse’s strategic expertise and broad operational experience in business development and establishing international brands will strengthen our commercial organization and offering.”

Since 2021, Cedercreutz has been a member of Scandic’s Board of Directors. In connection with the appointment, she will leave her Board position.

General Managers and Managing Directors

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Hong Kong, China, has hired Susanne Hatje to oversee the launch of Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, London, England, scheduled to open in 2023. Before joining as general manager, she held the same position at Mandarin Oriental, New York.

Pimalai Resort & Spa, Koh Lanta, Thailand, has appointed Brice Borin as general manager. Most recently, he was the complex general manager of the Mövenpick Cam Ranh Resort, Vietnam.

Round Hill Hotel and Villas, Montego Bay, Jamaica, has named Jeremy Zuber as resort manager. Previously, Zuber served as operations manager at Virgin Moskito Island, British Islands.

Food & Beverage

CoralTree Hospitality, Denver, Colorado, has named Nathaniel Brethold as director of restaurants, bars and events. He most recently led the team that created the food and beverage concepts for the Shinola Hotel in Detroit, Michigan.

Amara Resort and Spa, Sedona, Arizona, recently announced David Duncan as the new executive chef. A seasoned hospitality professional, Duncan created and led his own full-service catering company before joining the team.

InterContinental Miami, Florida has appointed Armando Jose Febles as the executive chef of its restaurant Toro Toro. Febles most recently served as executive sous chef at Papi Steak in Miami.

Hyatt Centric Chandigarh, India, has named Amit Kapoor as food and beverage manager. Over the course of the last two decades, he has worked with several hotels like Jaypee Palace Hotel Agra, ITC Grand Maratha Sheraton Mumbai, Grand Hyatt Dubai, Sofitel Jumeirah Beach, Dubai, Courtyard by Marriott, Gurugram Downtown and Hyatt Pune.

NoMo SoHo, New York, has appointed Iwona Luksza as director of food and beverage and Evan Bergman as executive chef. Previously, Luksza was the director of bars and restaurants at the Arizona Biltmore, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, Phoenix, Arizona, while Bergman served as executive sous chef at the Pine Hollow Club, East Norwich, Nueva York.

The St. Regis Deer Valley, Park City, Utah, has selected Pierson Shields as executive chef and Parker Teske as new assistant director of food and beverage. Shields was most recently executive chef for Grand Hyatt Vail Resort and Spa, Colorado, while Teske was director of outlets at the Goldener Hirsch Inn in Park City.

Sales & Marketing

Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport, Massachusetts, has appointed Leon Bolivar as their new director of marketing. Between 2019 and 2022, Bolivar held the same position at Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club, also in Boston.

Hyatt Regency San Francisco, California, has selected Stuart Evans as director of sales and marketing. Previously Evans oversaw sales and marketing efforts at Hyatt properties in Richmond and Charlottesville, Virginia, as area task force director of sales and marketing.
