People on the Move: New home for former Red Lion CEO; new GM for New York’s The Mark

Real estate investment firm Victory Hotel Partners has named Greg Mount its first CEO and Gary Sims CEO of its subsidiary, Hay Creek Hotels & Restaurants. Mount will focus on leveraging Victory’s vertically integrated platform, M&A execution, acquisition, development, and management of independent and boutique hotel properties.

Sims takes on this new role with more than 30 years of experience in operations and development in a myriad of hospitality segments. Sims will be responsible for the acquisition, renovation, repositioning, and management of upper-upscale and luxury independent and boutique hotels and restaurants as CEO of Hay Creek Hotels & Restaurants.

The Mark Hotel has announced the appointment of Etienne Haro as the hotel’s new general manager, effective Jan. 1, 2023. Haro has over 20 years of international experience in luxury hospitality and he began his Food & Beverage and Finance career at The Caledonian in Edinburgh, Scotland. He later relocated to the Middle East and Asia, where he directed the operations of market-leading luxury hotels.

Peter Pottinga has been named the first general manager of the soon-to-open InterContinental Chiang Mai Mae Ping. He will oversee aspects of the hotel’s pre-opening and opening phases. Pottinga, a native of Holland, began his career in hospitality in 1997 with Des Indes InterContinental, The Hague, and the InterContinental New Orleans, going from Night Manager to Rooms Division Manager. He held positions as hotel manager at the InterContinental at the George Edinburgh and Crowne Plaza London Heathrow shortly after leaving that one.

Luca Cerretani has been appointed as the new head of Italy for the PKF hospitality group. He succeeds Giorgio Bianchi, who will continue to work as a business development consultant for PKF hospitality group and at the 196+ forum in Milan. Based in Milan, Italy, Cerretani joined the PKF hospitality group in 2022. His current consulting activities as a director/head of Italy include feasibility studies, valuations, and asset management, primarily in European countries. Cerretani previously worked in revenue management for independent and branded luxury hotels for 13 years, where he gained experience in forecasting, market analysis, and operations.
