People on the move: Minor | Interstate exec | Martha’s Vineyard

Minor Hotels has named general managers for properties in the Indian Ocean, and Northern and Southern Africa, while a corporate director of culinary operations joined the team at Concord Hospitality. Interstate Hotels and Resorts appointed an executive vice president – international, and a historic Martha’s Vineyard hotel recruited an executive chef with Michelin star experience. These are just a few of this week’s hospitality appointments and promotions.

Aimbridge Hospitality named Skip Adams dual manager of The Tennessean Hotel and Holiday Inn World’s Fair Park, both in Knoxville, Tennessee. Adams has two decades of hospitality industry experience, including food and beverage, catering, operations, convention services and general management positions for Chateau Elan Winery & Resort in Braselton, Georgia, Noble Investment Group and Pacific Hospitality Group. 

The Whitney Hotel, opening this spring in Beacon Hill, Boston, appointed Marina Aslanidou general manager. Prior to joining the property, Aslanidou was director of sales for Grace Hotels North America. 

Richard Auer is now general manager of Homewood Suites Anaheim Main Gate in Anaheim, California. Auer most recently was general manager of the Hilton Garden Inn at LAX in El Segundo, California. 

Kimpton Solamar Hotel in San Diego promoted Sarah Becker to associate director of sales. Becker joined the property in 2016 as group sales manager. 

Sean Coghlan is now general manager of Acme Hotel Company in Chicago. He most recently was general manager of the Hilton Garden Inn Hoffman Estates in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. 

The Allison Inn & Spa in Willamette Valley, Oregon, named Nichole Cooper director of sales. Cooper returns to The Allison after previously serving as group sales and catering manager. 

OLS Hotels & Resorts named John Dailey Hawaii director of sales. Previously, he was senior director of sales at Aqua-Aston Hospitality where he implemented sales plans for a portfolio of more than 40 properties.

Halcyon in the Cherry Creek neighborhood of Denver named Jason Delcamp general manager. Delcamp has served as Halcyon’s director of operations since 2016. 

Minor Hotels named three general managers at properties in the Indian Ocean, Northern and Southern Africa. Coetzer Deysel is general manager at Anantara Mauritius Resort, opening later this year in Mauritius. Deysel joined Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas in 2016 as cluster general manager in the Maldives for Anantara Dhigu, Anantara Veli and sister property Naladhu Private Island. Lotfi Masbahi is general manager of Anantara Tozeur Resort, Tunis, Tunisia, opening in September. He joined the company from Radisson Hotel Group where he was general manager of Radisson Blu Sousse in Sousse, Tunisia. Finally, Laurie Burr is cluster general manager for The Royal Livingstone Victoria Falls Zambia Hotel by Anantara and Avani Victoria Falls Resort, both in Livingstone, Zambia. He joined from Legacy Hotels & Resorts, South Africa and Zimbabwe, where he was area general manager looking after a portfolio of five hotels. 

Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain in Qing Cheng Mountain, China, appointed Sabrina Ding director of sales and marketing. Ding most recently was associate director of sales at Jumeirah Dubai Commercial Cluster in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. 

Puerto Vallarta Beach Club in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, appointed John Douponce director of operations. Previously, Douponce was general manager of the Chamberlain West Hollywood in West Hollywood, California. 

Jackie Flory joined Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas, as director of the Mokara Spa, which, along with the hotel, is undergoing an extensive renovation. Flory had been spa director at the original Mokara Hotel & Spa in San Antonio where she was Manager of the Year in 2016. 

Derek Charles Gomez is now food and beverage director at The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa in Langkawi, Malaysia. He previously was food and beverage director at the InterContinental Hanoi Landmark72 in Hanoi, Vietnam. The resort also named Glen Roberts is executive chef. Roberts arrived at the resort after a stint at the Emerald Palace Kempinski Dubai in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where he was part of the pre-opening team. Prior to that, he spent two years as executive chef at the Shangri-La Hotel in Surabaya, Indonesia. 

White Lodging named Thomas Hoffmann dual general manager at The Otis Hotel and AC Hotel in Austin, Texas. Hoffmann, who has worked in six countries and three continents, most recently was opening general manager of the Grand Bohemian Hotel Mountain Brook in Birmingham, Alabama.

Karin Kopano is now area general manager, Santa Monica Proper Hotel in Santa Monica, California. She had been general manager of Hotel 50 Bowery in New York City. The company also appointed Cristiano Buono general manager, Austin Proper Hotel & Residences in Austin, Texas. He recently held a leadership position at The New York Edition in New York City. Stephane Lacroix is general manager, Downtown LA Proper Hotel in Los Angeles. Lacroix departed the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills in Beverly Hills, California, where he was executive assistant manager. 

Edward Linsley was named general manager of Mayflower Inn & Spa, Auberge Resorts Collection, in Washington, Connecticut, as well as regional vice president, responsible for Auberge Resorts Collection’s three Northeast properties. He most recently was senior general manager with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in the Indian Ocean, overseeing two resorts.

 

Patrice Martineau joined the Harbor View Hotel in Edgartown, Massachusetts, as executive chef, launching the property’s new flagship restaurants, Bettini Restaurant and Roxana Bar. The French-born chef has cooked in London’s Savoy Hotel, at Daniel in New York City, and at The Peninsula Hotel in Tokyo, Japan.  

New Castle Hotels & Resorts made Rick Norman general manager of the soon-to-open Courtyard and Residence Inn in Dartmouth, Canada. Norman previously was the general manager of the Hampton Inn & Suites, also in Dartmouth.

Nicholas Northam is now executive vice president – international, at Interstate Hotels and Resorts. Northam, who previously was managing director for the United Kingdom at Interstate, is now responsible for all of Europe and Russia/CIS, including the offices in the United Kingdom, Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and Moscow, Russia. He also joined the company’s executive committee. 

Encore Boston Harbor, opening this summer in Everett, Massachusetts, with 15 dining and lounge venues, named Warren Richards executive director of food and beverage. Before moving to Boston, Richards spent four years at Wynn and Encore Las Vegas, predominantly as the director of fine dining. 

The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort in Miami Beach, Florida, appointed Andreas Schatzschneider executive chef. The German chef most recently was executive chef at the Ritz-Carlton, Dubai International Finance Center in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. 

The Setai, Miami Beach in Miami Beach, Florida, promoted Eric Segreti to hotel manager from his previous role as director of rooms. 

Orange Lake Resorts named John Staten chief operating officer. Staten comes to the company from Kaplan Higher Education where he was chief operating officer for more than eight years.

The Bürgenstock Hotels & Resort Lake Lucerne in Lake Lucerne, Switzerland, named Hanneke Stoop director of its Alpine Spa, part of Switzerland’s largest alpine wellness hotel spa. Stoop recently was spa director at the Royal Mansour Hotel in Marrakesh, Morocco.    

SX Sky Bar, a new lounge and nightclub adjacent to Hotel Essex in Chicago, appointed Christopher Suzuki chef de cuisine. Suzuki most recently was sous chef at Oxford’s LondonHouse Chicago. 

Dean Thompson is now corporate director of culinary operations at Concord Hospitality Enterprises Company, a new role that was created as part of the organization’s expansion of its food and beverage team. Thompson joined Concord in 2008 as an opening team member of the Renaissance Raleigh Hotel in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he eventually became food and beverage director, and executive chef. 

James Wroblewski was named general manager of WestDrift, Manhattan Beach, an Autograph Collection hotel in Manhattan Beach, California. He had been general manager of the W Los Angeles West Beverly Hills in Los Angeles. 

Cape Rey Carlsbad Beach, A Hilton Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California, named Tom Wilson food and beverage director, Rita Hornack food and beverage outlets director, Steven Marchioni the restaurant manager for Chandler’s, and Angela Faringhy marketing manager. 

Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, named Donelle Zunker general manager. A Marriott International team member for 28 years, Zunker joined the property from the Renaissance and Marriott Atlanta Airport Gateway where she served as dual manager of the Atlanta properties.
