People on the Move: Lore, Sensei, Corinthia

Lore Group, the company behind Sea Containers London, Pulitzer Amsterdam, Riggs Washington DC, and Lyle Washington DC, has promoted David Taylor to chief executive officer.

With over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Taylor previously served as the company’s chief operating officer, overseeing operations at the group’s hotels, including opening Lyle Washington DC in April 2021. The group is currently preparing to open One Hundred Shoreditch, the company’s sixth hotel, and second in London.

Prior to joining Lore Group, Taylor was at the forefront of some of the most prominent hospitality brands throughout the last two decades, from launching Marriott International’s Edition brand in 2013 to leading the Principal Hotel portfolio for Starwood Capital, where he held the role of chief operating officer. His work led to him being recognized as the UK’s Hotelier of the Year in 2018.

“After a very difficult time for our industry, I am pleased to lead the next phase of development for Lore Group. With five unique hotels, a sixth due imminently, we are in a strong position for the future. I am looking forward to the launch of One Hundred Shoreditch, having opened the original Hoxton Hotel in Shoreditch in 2006,” Taylor said.

Rancho La Puerta, the destination fitness resort and spa located in Tecate, Mexico, has named Luis Arturo Aguilar as its new spa manager. Most recently, he was the director of spa and wellness at Maiave Spa by Sheraton Buganvilias, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Management company McKibbon Hospitality, Tampa, Florida, has appointed Suzanne Akley as general manager of the new Home2 Suites by Hilton Wildwood/The Villages, Florida. Akley joins McKibbon from Hampton Inn & Suites Deland, Florida, where she served as general manager for more than six years.

The Rittenhouse, an Independent Collection Hotels & Resorts property located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has appointed Lisa Anctil as the new spa director of The Rittenhouse Spa & Club. Most recently, she served as manager of operations for Caesars Entertainment spas, health clubs and salons in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Non-executive Chair Patrick Cescau has announced his retirement from global hospitality company InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG). Deanna Oppenheimer will succeed Cescau as non-executive chair from September 2022 upon his retirement. Oppenheimer currently is non-executive chair of Hargreaves Lansdown plc, a financial service company based in Bristol, England, and sits on the board of Thomson Reuters Corporation, a Canadian-American multinational media conglomerate headquartered in Toronto, Canada.

Fabio Datteroni has been named the general manager of Oetker Collection’s first Italian Masterpiece Hotel, Hotel La Palma, Capri, Italy, opening in the summer of 2022. Most recently, Datteroni served as the general manager of Terme Di Saturnia Natural Destination, Tuscany, Italy.

Nathan Decker has been appointed as the director of national accounts at Grand Wailea, a Waldorf Astoria Resort, Maui, Hawaii. Most recently, he held the title of area director of sales at Nanuku Auberge Resort, Fiji.

Patricia Gonzales and Omar Gutierrez have been promoted to co-chief executive officers by Orange Brands Management, a New York-based global restaurant group overseeing the SUSHISAMBA and Duck & Waffle brands. Previously, Gonzales was the chief administrative officer of the group, and Gutierrez was the chief operating officer.

Brent Hardy has been named the president of The Hardy Group, a hospitality firm specializing in project and construction management, Atlanta, Georgia. Prior to his promotion to president, Hardy was the group’s director of development. He joined The Hardy Group in 2008 as a project director.

Wellness brand Sensei, Los Angeles, California, has appointed three new leaders across its Lāna’i and upcoming Rancho Mirage properties. Annika Jackson has joined Sensei as general manager of Sensei Porcupine Creek, Rancho Mirage, California, which is opening this fall. She previously held the same role at L’Auberge de Sedona, Arizona. Also joining Sensei Porcupine Creek is Retreat Director Michael Conte, who previously served as the director of spa and wellness for Meadowood Napa Valley, California. At Sensei Lāna’i, A Four Seasons Resort in Hawaii, Catherine Phillips is the new retreat director. Most recently, she was the spa director of Resorts and Residences by CuisinArt, Anguilla, British West Indies.

Rosewood Hotel Group has appointed two new members to its executive team: Taywin (Tex) Khampasri as chief information officer, and Dries Deforche as vice president, legal – Europe, Africa, Middle East, and the Americas. Prior to joining Rosewood, Khampasri held the role of vice president of IT digital for Minor International, a multi-national hospitality company based in Bangkok, Thailand. Deforche previously served as vice president, asset management (EMEA) at Marriott International.

Aimbridge Hospitality has announced that executive Will Loughran has been promoted to president of its lifestyle division, Evolution Hospitality. He led Aimbridge and Evolution into Canada and facilitated the merger with Bellstar Hotels and Resorts. He joined Evolution in 2015 and most recently served as chief operating officer of Evolution. Loughran began his career with Marriott International, accumulating a broad range of experience in sales, marketing, management and operations for select-service to luxury properties before transitioning to private management companies.

General Hotel Management, Singapore, has appointed two new general managers. Fabio Marigliano will helm The Chedi Al Bait, Sharjah, UAE. Most recently, he was the executive assistant manager at Minor Hotels and Resorts in Doha, Qatar. Previously having served as the general manager at The Chedi Muscat, Oman, Morton Johnston rejoins the GHM team to champion the opening of The Chedi Katara Hotel & Resort in Doha, Qatar in 2022.

Vincent McGrath has been appointed as hotel manager at The Dorchester, London, UK. He joins the Dorchester Collection team following his tenure as area general manager for Caesars Palace Dubai, UAE, since 2016.

Corinthia Hotels, a luxury hotel family headquartered in Malta, has appointed Alexandra Pisani as the new general manager of Corinthia Palace, Attard, Malta. As the daughter of founder Alfred Pisani, she spent her early years at Corinthia Palace and served as quality and standards manager at Corinthia London, in addition to other senior roles at international 5-star properties. Most recently, she was Corinthia Palace’s hotel manager.

The Hythe, a Luxury Collection Resort, Vail, Colorado, has appointed Kristen Pryor as general manager of the new luxury resort concept in the Rocky Mountains. She previously served as the associate director of sales at the JW Marriott Denver Cherry Creek, Colorado.

AMR Collection has made two additions to the Canada business development manager teams. Scott Reid has rejoined the team as business development manager of Central Canada, managing the Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Western Ontario regions. Brian Joseph has returned to AMR Collection as business development manager of the Toronto, Greater Toronto Area, Eastern Ontario, and Niagara regions.

Cristiano Rinaldi has been promoted to president of Capella Hotel Group, Singapore. Previously the chief operating officer of the hospitality management company, Rinaldi will take over the reins from Nicholas Clayton, the group’s former CEO.

Hendrik Jan Roel has been named the new chief financial officer of Dutch lifestyle and hotel brand citizenM. He will join citizenM on May 1 after 22 years at Ahold Delhaize, a multinational food retail group based in the Netherlands, where he most recently served as CFO and EVP of several brands. Ernest Lee, who previously served as citizenM’s managing director for the Americas, has been promoted to the brand’s first-ever global chief growth officer.

Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya, Mexico, has appointed Pedro Soares as its food and beverage manager, tasked with overseeing the luxury resort’s five onsite eateries as well as its new culinary initiatives to be launched in 2022. Soares joins the Andaz team from Palmaïa, The House of AïA, Playa del Carmen, Mexico, where he served as food and beverage manager and a leader on the wellness retreat’s executive committee.

Owner-operator Hotel Equities, Alpharetta, Georgia, has added Jenn Thompson to its team as vice president of operations. Beginning her career at age 19 as the youngest GM in the Western Americas for Marriott International, Thompson most recently held a corporate position within Interstate Hotels & Resorts, Plano, Texas.

LondonHouse Chicago, Illinois, an Oxford Capital Group property, has added new leadership to its food and beverage department: Director of Food and Beverage Homero Villarreal and Director of Outlets Rene Garcia. Villarreal comes to LondonHouse from Diageo, a multinational beverage alcohol company headquartered in London, where he served as hospitality advisor. Garcia most recently served as the food and beverage manager at theWit Hotel, Chicago, and then as manager at Chicago Cut Steakhouse.

Hotel Drover, Fort Worth, Texas—an Autograph Collection Hotel by Marriott—has welcomed two new executive team members: Devin Walline as executive chef and Jamel Taggart as director of hotel food and beverage operations. Most recently, Chef Walline served as executive chef for The Harpeth Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton, Franklin, Tennessee. Prior to joining Hotel Drover, Taggart was the executive director of food and beverage at Omni Oklahoma City Hotel, Oklahoma.

The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort, Miami Beach, Florida, and W Miami Beach, Florida, have appointed Winfred van Workum as market general manager. Most recently, he was the general manager of the historic luxury hotel St. Regis Washington, D.C.

Stephane Zaharia has joined Luxury Hotel Advisors—a boutique luxury hotel advisory and acquisitions firm based in Newport Beach, California—as its managing director of the Caribbean and Latin America region. Prior to joining the firm, Zaharia served as president and managing director of Resorts and Residences by CuisinArt, Anguilla, British West Indies.
