InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has appointed Michael Glover as chief financial officer. Glover will take up his new position and become an executive director of IHG’s Board and a member of IHG’s Executive Committee with effect from March 20th, 2023.
Glover has been with IHG for 18 years and currently serves as chief financial officer of the Americas and group head of commercial finance. He succeeds Paul Edgecliffe-Johnson who, in October, announced his intention to pursue an opportunity outside IHG after 19 years of service.
During his tenure with the business, Michael has held several roles at group and regional level, including CFO of IHG’s China region, at which time he became group financial controller where he oversaw tax, treasury and financial reporting group wide.
“I’m honored to be appointed chief financial officer of IHG. I’ve had the enormous privilege of working in a variety of different finance roles in my time with the company and believe my deep understanding of our global operations, growth journey and strategic priorities will be beneficial as I transition into the new role,” said Glover.
Corporate Management
The IoH (Institue of Hospitality) has confirmed that Surinder Arora FIH, founder and chairman of the Arora Group, will retire as IoH president on December 31st.
BWH Hotel Group has elected Danny Lafayette as board chairman for 2023. Previously, Lafayette served as vice-chairman of the Board of Directors.
General Managers and Managing Directors
Aman has appointed Olivier Lordonnois as managing director of Aman New York. Most recently, Lordonnois served as chief operating officer of Flâneur Hospitality where he was also the managing director of its inaugural New York property, The Fifth Avenue Hotel.
Sam Ioannidis has been appointed general manager at Four Seasons Hotel Montreal, Canada. Most recently, Ioannidis held the title of general manager of Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
Operations
Island Hospitality Management, West Palm Beach, Florida, has promoted Kate Bleakley to vice president of operations, WaterWalk division. Bleakley has been a part of the brand for four years, and her most recent role was at the Hyatt Place Cherry Creek, Glendale, Colorado, in sales and food and beverage.
Remington Hotels, Dallas, Texas, has promoted Jason Reader from his previous role as senior vice president of operations to executive vice president of operations.
Virgin Hotels, Miami, Florida, has welcomed Martin Sinclair as corporate director of operations, North America. Most recently, Sinclair was the general manager of the Hualalai Resort Club, Kona, Hawaii.
Food & Beverage
Cosimo Bruno has joined Daxton Hotel, Birmingham, Michigan, as beverage curator. Previously, he has held the roles of director of operations as well as sommelier at Caravaggio and Sistina, in Manhattan.
Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, California, has promoted Antonio Bugarin to general manager. Prior to his recent appointment, Bugarin served as the property’s hotel manager for nearly five years.
King Kamehameha Kona Beach Resort, Kailua Kona, Hawaii, has announced a new director of food and beverage, Veronica Claveran. Claveran was previously King Kamehameha Kona Beach Resort’s food and beverage manager.
Grand View Lodge, Nisswa, Minnesota, has welcomed Matthew Conn as director of food and beverage. Conn most recently worked as director of food and beverage at nearby Cragun’s Resort in Brainerd, Minnesota.

Mona Metwally has been appointed director of sales and marketing at Rosewood Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Metwally previously worked at the Six Senses Southern Dunes, The Red Sea.
