People on the move: Hospitality Ventures Management Group, Tempo by Hilton Square, Marcus Hotels & Resorts

Cory Chambers has been promoted to the newly created role of chief commercial officer and senior vice president of business intelligence at Hospitality Ventures Management Group (HVMG), an Atlanta-based private hotel investment, ownership, and management company. Chambers will be responsible for leading the HVMG Revenue Excellence team in maximizing market share growth and bottom-line profitability in his new role. Driving HVMG’s business intelligence strategic initiative of creating forward-looking, predictive analytics will be central to the new role. Comprehensive data warehousing and visualization platforms have been developed over the last eighteen months to improve real-time decision-making for company leaders and results for investors. 

“I’m passionate about driving results, helping others use data to make great decisions and growing HVMG’s brand in the eye’s investors, brands and most importantly, our associates,” Chambers said.  “This is my dream job, and I look forward to growing with HVMG as the company pursues its own expansion efforts.” 

Chambers, a 20-year hospitality veteran, most recently served as vice president of revenue generation at White Lodging, where he oversaw sales, revenue management, eCommerce, and communications for the company’s full-service portfolio. Before joining White Lodging, he worked as corporate director of sales and marketing and pre-opening director of sales and marketing at the JW Marriott Indianapolis. Chambers began his career with Marriott International, where he held several sales and marketing leadership positions at hotels ranging in size from 300 to 1,300 rooms across the United States.

Matthew Slippoy has been named general manager of Tempo by Hilton Times Square, which is set to open in the second half of 2023. The property will be the global debut of Hilton’s newest lifestyle brand, Twm. 

Slippoy debuted six hotels in the New York City market throughout his 20-year career. Slippoy began his career in the hospitality industry as an assistant front office manager at Trump International Hotel & Tower New York before moving on to become guest services manager at Mandarin Oriental New York. 

Marcus Hotels & Resorts appointed John Wise vice president of food and beverage. Wise has previous experience as a restaurateur, having worked at Bartolotta Restaurants in Milwaukee and Lettuce Entertain You in Chicago. Wise will be responsible for leading and elevating the company’s multifaceted restaurant, bar, and group catering programs to deliver dynamic and extraordinary culinary experiences. This includes managing all hotel-catered events as well as over 40 signature restaurants, bars, and lounges throughout Marcus Hotels & Resorts’ 16 properties. He will report to Andrew Flack, Marcus Hotels & Resorts’ chief commercial officer. 

Mr. Arnaud Morandi has been appointed general manager of the Fauchon L’Hotel Paris. Mr. Morandi comes to the five-star property from the Anne-Sophie PIC group, where he managed several sites in Valence, France, including the five-star Relais & Châteaux hotel, La Maison PIC, the prestigious Michelin three-star restaurant, Anne Sophie PIC, and the Bistro André, as well as the Michelin one-star restaurant, La Dame de PIC in Paris. Mr. Morandi will continue to manage the Artisans of Pleasure at the Fauchon L’Hotel Paris in his new role. 

Gregg Harper, a 30-year hospitality veteran, has been promoted to managing director of The Woodlands Hotels by CoralTree Hospitality. Harper, who was most recently the area general manager for The Woodlands Hotels, moved to The Woodlands in 2017 when he was appointed general manager of The Westin at The Woodlands. After two years in that position, he was promoted to general manager at The Woodlands Resort.
