As the year comes to a close, hoteliers are finding new homes for 2019, including David Emig, the new resort manager for Four Seasons in Hawaii; Justin Gentry, new general manager of the Kimpton Solamar Hotel in San Diego; and Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead appointing Kerrington Hing as general manager.

The Adolphus in Dallas has named Amy Bell spa director. She most recently worked as a spa professional at Dermaflash, a facial care product line, and has served as the spa manager for the Ritz-Carlton, Denver and The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas for more than seven years.
Four Seasons Resort Lanai in Hawaii has appointed David Emig as resort manager. He most recently worked as director of rooms at Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane and has held senior management positions in the Maldives, Shanghai, Singapore and Austin.
Aloft Langkawi Pantai Tengah in Malaysia has appointed Ammar Kevin Eu to lead the opening team. In 2013, Eu took on his first general manager role at Vistana Kuala Lumpur before moving on to head the pre-opening team at the 5-star luxury resort Mangala Resort & Spa in Kuantan and later on the Swiss-Garden Hotel in Malacca.
Amanda Fox has been appointed as head of marketing for Magnuson Worldwide in London. Fox is an American ex-pat who has enjoyed over a decade of working directly for and as a supplier to the hospitality, eGaming and casino gaming industries across three countries before entering the travel sector 18 months ago. She was formally senior marketing manager, overseeing the consumer marketing program and Magnuson Rewards loyalty program.
Kimpton Solamar Hotel has named Justin Gentry general manager of the 235-room downtown San Diego boutique hotel. He served as assistant general manager at the hotel for the past five years and joined the hotel as director of rooms in 2013.
Benchmark has named Shaun Griffin controller for Costa d’Este Beach Resort & Spa in Vero Beach, Florida. Griffin comes to his new position with a decade of experience in service management, including a five-year tenure with Merrimack Health Care Group and Edgewood Life Care Services.
Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead has appointed Kerrington Hing as general manager of the 127-room hotel. He most recently served as general manager of Waldorf Astoria Park City in Utah for more than seven years.
Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi, Santa Fe, New Mexico, has named Peter O’Brien as its new executive chef. Chef O’Brien has over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, most recently serving as chef, owner and operator of High Mountain Cuisine, a consulting and catering company that provided culinary services to clients in New Mexico, Texas and Colorado.
Urban Commons, a Los Angeles-based real estate investment and development firm, has announced the appointment of Salvatore Takoushian, a real estate investment banking veteran specializing in lodging and hospitality, as president and CFO. The news came just ahead of its acquisition of its largest hospitality asset by value to-date – The Wagner at the Battery, New York City (formerly known as The Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park). Takoushian was previously managing director in the Real Estate and Lodging Investment Banking Division at Jefferies Group.
The Westin Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas, California, has appointed Todd Winch as general manager and Zak Kimble as director of sales & marketing. Most recently, Winch served as GM at the Dallas/Fort Worth Marriott Solana. Kimble previously was director of group sales and catering at the Marriott International South Central Sales Office. He has also worked in sales positions at Marriott International properties in Chicago, Denver and Houston.
