People on the Move: Dorchester, Minor, Hyatt Centric

Dorchester Collection, London, England, has appointed Arabella El Barkouki as global director of sales. Reporting to Philip Morris, vice president, commercial, El Barkouki is responsible for leading the brand’s global sales teams, developing strategies to support growth and spearheading policies, objectives and initiatives across the portfolio of current and future hotels.

She brings over 20 years of leadership experience from the luxury hospitality industry to her role. This appointment marks her return to Dorchester. El Barkouki first joined the brand in 2008 and spent four years as regional director of sales for the UK, Europe and Russia before being promoted to director of sales and marketing for Le Richemond, Geneva, which was managed by Dorchester Collection at the time. In 2015, she went on to join Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group as head of regional sales, Europe and held several sales leadership roles during her seven years with the company. Most recently, she was the brand’s vice president of global sales partners.

Corporate Management

Wurzak Hotel Group, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has promoted Eric Davies to president. Davies has been a member of the team for over 20 years, most recently serving as chief operating officer.

KSL Resorts, Irvine, California, has named Thatcher Dilley as its senior vice president, development west. Dilley was most recently senior vice president of construction and development for the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, Highland, California.

General Managers, Managing Directors

The Eden Hotel Collection, London, England, has promoted Dean Gunston from senior general manager of The Greenway Hotel and Spa in Cheltenham and Brockencote Hall Hotel in Worcestershire, England, to take the reins at Bovey Castle, in Dartmoor National Park, England. Craig Routledge will succeed Gunston at Greenway after serving as general manager of The Kings Hotel. Jack Hartshorne has been promoted from his role as deputy general manager at The Arden Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon to lead a new chapter at Brockencote.

Hyatt Centric Chandigarh, India, has appointed Maulina Gupta as general manager. Gupta previously served as hotel manager at Grand Hyatt Gurgaon, India.

Resort at Squaw Creek, Olympic Valley, California, has welcomed Manfred Steuerwald as general manager. Steuerwald joins the property from Hyatt Regency Calgary in Alberta, Canada.

Operations

Minor Hotels, Bangkok Thailand, has selected William Costley as senior vice president of operations for Asia. Costley joins after a career spanning 32 years with Hilton, most recently as senior vice president operations overseeing the group’s Arabian Peninsula and Turkey region.

Food & Beverage

Chatham Bars Inn, Massachusetts, has selected Andrew Chadwick as executive chef. Previously, he was the executive chef at the Inn by the Sea, Cape Elizabeth, Maine.

Hay Creek Hotels announced Christina Cole as catering sales manager for Hotel Hartness, Greenville, South Carolina. Previously, Cole served as the sales and catering manager at the Spartanburg Marriott, Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Grand Hyatt Vail, Colorado, has announced two new food and beverage hires: Pascal Coudouy as executive chef and Carrie Clay as director of operations. Coudouy worked as the executive chef and culinary director for Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort and Spa, Colorado, and earned expertise as the owner, operator and executive chef at Gore Range Brewery, Edwards, Colorado. Clay most recently served as assistant director of operations, food & beverage and rooms at Hyatt Regency Seattle, Washington.

Luce at InterContinental SF Hotel, San Francisco, California, has announced Dennis Efthymiou as its new chef de cuisine. Efthymiou joins after cooking at The Fat Duck, London, England.

The Kimpton Sylvan Hotel, Atlanta, Georgia, has selected Anca Flynn as director of restaurant and beverage programs, and Thomas Davis as executive chef of the hotel’s three restaurants. Flynn most recently led the food and beverage programs at The Kimpton Sylvan Hotel, Santa Fe, New Mexico. Davis most recently served as executive chef of The Kimpton Sylvan Hotel’s The Betty.

Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort and Spa, Colorado, has introduced several new members to its culinary team, including Jerry Ah Liang Ng Piang Chag as executive sous chef, Jitender Chaudhary as chef de cuisine, Brij Singh as chef de cuisine and I Nyoman Bayu Jayandana as pastry chef. Jerry Ah Liang Ng Piang Chag has extensive experience in hotels and restaurants around the world; Chaudhary most recently served as chef de cuisine for Hyatt Regency Delhi, India; Singh joins from Qatar’s Grand Hyatt Doha; Jayandana joins from Hyatt Regency Bali, Indonesia, where he served as cluster sous chef pastry for Hyatt Regency Bali & Andaz Bali.

St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort has appointed Andrea Montuori as their new executive chef. Previously, Montuori was executive chef at Kuda Villingili Resort Maldives, Baglioni Resort Maldives on Maagau Island, and the Kempinski SPA Hotel in Gozo, Malta.

Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi, Santa Fe, New Mexico, has chosen Andre Sattler as the property’s executive chef. Most recently, Sattler held the position of task force executive chef at Rosewood Sand Hill, Menlo Park, California.

The Chedi Katara Hotel & Resort, Doha, Qatar, has welcomed Dorin Schuster as director of culinary operations and Mehdi Ouidane as director of food and beverage. Schuster arrived from The Chedi Muscat, Oman; whereas Ouidane was the pre-opening food and beverage manager at Park Hyatt Doha, Qatar.

Sales & Marketing

The Chedi Katara Hotel & Resort, Doha, Qatar, has hired Ghada Korayem as director of marketing and communications. Most recently, she was part of the pre-opening team of Banyan Tree Doha, as director of marketing. Joining her will be Mohamed Boughzala as director of sales, with over two decades experience in luxury hotels such Park Hyatt Doha, Andaz Dubai, United Arab, Emirates, The Palm Dubai and Grand Hyatt Dubai to name a few. Ayoub Gorgi will be the revenue and reservations manager. Gorgi is well-versed in the Qatar market and has worked with several luxury groups such as Anantara, Hilton and Tivoli.

Crescent Hotels & Resorts, Fairfax, Virginia, has welcomed Sherry Serio to senior vice president of sales and marketing. Before joining, she held the same position with CSM Corp., Minneapolis, Minnesota.

King Kamehameha Kona Beach Resort, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, has announced a new director of sales and marketing, Sara Scott. Most recently, Scott held the same role at Outrigger Kona Resort, Hawaii.

Other

The Chedi Katara Hotel & Resort, Doha, Qatar, has selected Andrew Kaushnik as director of human resources. He has been in the field of human resources in the hospitality industry since 2000, when he rose through the ranks in different international hotel groups in the Middle East and India. Mohamed Gamal is joining as director of finance, bringing over a decade of expertise from his years at Four Seasons Hotel Doha and Four Seasons Hotel Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Ali Mohamed Kamal El Din is the new director of engineering. Most recently, El Din headed the engineering team at InterContinental Doha Beach & Spa.
