People on the Move: DelMonte, Kayak, Remington

DelMonte Hotel Group, Rochester, New York, has made key organizational changes and executive appointments: John DelMonte as chairman of the board; Alexander DelMonte as chief executive officer and president; Kate Kuttruff as chief operating officer; Lisa Thompson as vice president of sales, marketing, and revenue management; and Guy Crawford as chief investment officer.

John DelMonte is moving exclusively into the role of chairman of the board and passing on the role of CEO to Alexander DelMonte.

Having worked at DelMonte Hotel Group for 32 years, Kuttruff most recently served as senior vice president of operations. Thompson joined the group in 2002 and was elevated to corporate director of sales, marketing, and revenue management prior to her most recent promotion. Before joining the DelMonte Hotel Group team, Crawford was the head of the hospitality platform at Lightstone Group.

Kayak has tapped Indy Adenaw as the managing director of Kayak Hotels, Stamford, Connecticut. Previously, Adenaw was a senior director, brand management and global brand leader at Marriott International, where he crafted the business case for Moxy Hotels.

Island Hospitality Management, West Palm Beach, Florida, has promoted two team members, Drew Allison and John Marques, to executive vice presidents of operations. Allison and Marques previously served as senior vice presidents of operations.

Courtyard King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel, Hawaii, has appointed Edward Braunlich to the role of general manager. Braunlich’s new role marks his formal return to Hawaii, after having most recently served as the hotel’s interim general manager.

Velas Resorts has promoted Roció Cervantes to director of sales of Grand Velas Los Cabos and Mar del Cabo, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Having joined Velas Resorts in 2017, she most recently served as associate director of sales at Grand Velas Los Cabos.

Remington Hotels, Dallas, Texas, has promoted four executive team members: Zach Cunningham to vice president of analytics; Robert King to chief accounting officer; Keith Oltchick to executive vice president of business development; and Laura Simmons to vice president of corporate HR.

Magnuson Hotels, London, England, has promoted Jérémie Dardard to COO. Dardard has been with Magnuson for four years, most recently as global head of corporate revenue strategy.

Sandra Estornell has been named managing director of Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort, Hawaii, set to open its doors in 2023. Estornell joins the Rosewood team after more than 20 years at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company.

Marriott Irvine Spectrum, California, has hired Gordon Fischmann as director of food and beverage, and Rey Blanco as general manager of the hotel’s rooftop bar, Hive & Honey. Fischmann most recently served as general restaurant manager at Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills. Blanco was general manager of Helmsman Ale House, Newport Beach, California.

Kolter Hospitality, Delray Beach, Florida, has hired Cindy Flanagan as vice president of accounting and finance. She previously held the chief financial officer position at the Ecclestone Organization.

Ryan Fox has been named executive chef of Humuhumunukunukuapua’a, the signature restaurant of Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, Maui, Hawaii. Most recently, he was the executive chef at Nomad.PDX, a restaurant he founded in 2014 in Portland, Oregon.

The Hermosa Inn, Paradise Valley, Arizona, has added two new members to its executive team. Noel Fulton has been appointed managing director for The Hermosa Inn, after having held the same position at its sister property, Tubac Golf Resort & Spa. Rejoining the hotel team is Alejandro Martinez, who has been named executive chef at LON’s at the Hermosa. Martinez was executive sous chef at LON’s for two years before taking the reins at Troon Country Club, where he was named executive chef in 2018.

Todd Hargreaves has been appointed president and chief investment officer of Service Properties Trust, Newton, Massachusetts. He has served as vice president and chief investment officer of the real estate investment trust since 2020.

London-based Ennismore has appointed Jason Hsiang executive vice president of development, Americas. He previously served as senior vice president of development, Americas at Yotel.

Global Hotel Alliance, Dubai, UAE, has appointed two senior members to its leadership team. Franck Kermarrechas come on board as chief commercial officer. He most recently served as chief operating officer at Atlas Hotels. Nicolas le Roux has assumed the newly created role of head of marketing and digital strategy. Prior to joining GHA, he was chief marketing officer at Mondia Group.

Dorchester Collection’s 45 Park Lane, London, England, has appointed Tomas Kracalik as bar manager at BAR 45. Kracalik previously managed several bars in London including Gymkhana, Skylon, The Botanist and, most recently, 10° at Galvin at Windows on Park Lane.

Terrapin Hospitality, Houston, Texas, has expanded its management team with the promotion of Shawn Kvernen to chief operating officer and the addition of Robert Adler as regional vice president. Kvernen joined Terrapin in September 2021 as senior vice president of business development. Adler joins from Hotel Equities, where he served as vice president of operations west.

Dusit International, Bangkok, Thailand, has appointed Nichlas Maratos vice president – commercial. Prior to joining Dusit, he was executive vice president – sales for Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts.

Nattinee McMillan has been named director of sales and marketing at Meliá Phuket Mai Khao, Thailand. She joins the resort after working as the director of sales at Dream Phuket Hotel and Spa.

Renato De Oliveira has been appointed the new general manager of The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands – the brand’s first property to open in the Maldives. De Oliveira will be departing from the St. Regis Kuala Lumpur to lead the resort’s team.

Ambassador Chicago, a JdV by Hyatt Hotel, Illinois, has appointed Tony Ovalle sales manager. Prior to joining Ambassador Chicago, Ovalle worked for Claridge House, Chicago, and was a part of the opening team at the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel.

Sonesta, Newton, Massachusetts, has appointed Shane Platt senior vice president of lodging development, upscale brands. Platt joins Sonesta from Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, where he served as senior vice president franchise sales and development.

Extended Stay America, Charlotte, North Carolina, has expanded its franchise development team with the addition of two regional vice presidents: Terry Sanders and Mike McGaughey. Prior to joining Extended Stay America, Sanders was executive vice president of Aimbridge Hospitality. McGaughey was director of development for new construction at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.

THesis Hotel Miami, Florida, has appointed Marijana Simmons its new director of sales and marketing. Most recently, she worked in the same capacity for InterContinental Hotels Group at Even Hotel, New York City.

IHG Hotels & Resorts, Buckinghamshire, UK, has tapped Julienne Smith as the successor of Joel Eisemann, chief development officer, Americas, who will retire in June. Currently serving as senior vice president, development – luxury and upscale, as well as development and owner support, Smith will join the Americas regional leadership team.

Keith Steigerwald has joined Sheraton Denver Downtown, Colorado, as director of food and beverage. Prior to that, Steigerwald spent six years serving as director of operations at The Lodge Sonoma and W San Francisco, California.

Heidi Stone has been appointed president and CEO of Mountain Lake Lodge, Pembroke, Virginia, where she had previously served as general manager since 2013. The hotel also promoted Lyndsi Hale to vice president of sales; Jeremiah McKendree to vice president of recreation and retail; AJ Stephens to vice president of food and beverage; Marsha Stevers to vice president of finance; and Bill Walker to vice president of facilities.

Mr. C Beverly Hills, California, has promoted Brock Taylor from hotel manager to general manager. He joined the Mr. C Beverly Hills team in 2018.

Executive Chef Mathew Woolf has taken the helm of the kitchens at White Barn Inn, Auberge Resorts Collection, Kennebunk, Maine. Chef Woolf joins White Barn Inn from Rainbow Room, New York City, where he served as executive chef and pastry chef for over seven years.
