People on the Move: Beverly Hills Hotel, Donohoe, Marriott

John Scanlon has been appointed general manager of The Beverly Hills Hotel, succeeding Ed Mady. He will take over management of the Dorchester Collection hotel on April 4, 2022.

Having joined Dorchester Collection in 2005, Scanlon is currently the general manager of 45 Park Lane in London – a position he has held for seven years.  He also manages the adjacent Mayfair Park Residences.  Previous roles include stints at The Dorchester in London as acting general manager and hotel manager, as well as global director of revenue at the company’s corporate office. He is a graduate of Shannon College of Hotel Management in County Clare, Ireland

The Plaza Hotel Pioneer Park, an Independent Collection Hotels & Resorts property in El Paso, Texas, has tapped Lawrence Acosta to lead its culinary team. Executive Chef Acosta most recently worked at the El Paso Country Club, Texas.

Harrah’s Resort Southern California, a gaming destination located in Funner, California, has appointed Melissa Corrigan its new vice president of people, culture and experiences. Most recently, Corrigan served as chief human resources officer for the restaurant company Jack in the Box.

The Gwen, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Chicago, Illinois, has hired Katharine Degoma as general manager and Anna Jaszczyk as director of sales and marketing. Degoma most recently held the same position at Ambassador Chicago, where she converted the independent hotel to a lifestyle-boutique hotel as a JdV by Hyatt brand. Jaszczyk was director of group sales at The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago.

The Kirkwood Collection, Beverly Hills, California, has expanded its corporate staff. Nick Galli has been appointed regional director of finance. Prior to joining Kirkwood, Galli was director of finance at the Ace Hotel, Palm Springs. Emma Rosenberg has been promoted from accounting to revenue manager. Also joining the revenue management team is Chaya Siwamoktham, who most recently worked at the Thompson Hollywood Hotel, Los Angeles. Melissa Mortensen, who was previously with The Hoxton, Los Angeles, has joined Kirkwood’s marketing team.

Swire Hotels has appointed Andres Garcia the new general manager of EAST Miami, Florida. Garcia previously served as hotel manager at the property.

Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa, Bonita Springs, Florida, has promoted Lenne Goslin to director of group sales. Goslin started her career at Hyatt Regency Coconut Point in August 2001 before the resort opened its doors. She most recently served as senior sales manager.

Porto Hotels and Resorts has named Karim el Herazy the new general manager of Porto Said Resort & Spa, Port Said, Egypt. He previously served as general manager for two Accor properties, Mercure Ismailia Forsan Island Hotel and Mercure Hurghada Hotel, Egypt.

Pacifica Hotels has appointed Carl Hubbard general manager of The Wayfarer DTLA, Los Angeles, California. Hubbard most recently held the position of regional director at Petit Ermitage, West Hollywood.

Alex Kassatly has taken the helm of Auberge Saint-Antoine, Quebec City, Canada. Having served as a general manager for over 20 years, Kassatly specializes in the opening and management of luxury hotels around the world.

Kamalaya Koh Samui, Thailand, has welcomed Pierre Lang as its new general manager. Lang previously worked for international hotel brands, including Alila Hotels & Resorts, Armani Hotels & Resorts, Park Hyatt in the Maldives and Dubai, and Grand Hyatt in Dubai and Berlin.

Daron Lee has been appointed executive chef for Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square. Prior to joining Sofitel, he was the executive chef for Hilton McLean, Tyson’s Corner, Virginia.

Markus Lindner has been named general manager of Mandarin Oriental, Boston, Massachusetts. Lindner joins Mandarin Oriental, Boston from Mandarin Oriental, Geneva, Switzerland, where he served as hotel manager.

Donohoe Hospitality Services, Bethesda, Maryland, has appointed two vice presidents. Neeta Mayur has been promoted to vice president, revenue management, and Seon Heo to vice president of sales and marketing. Having joined the Donohoe team in 2010 as a revenue manager at the Holiday Inn Washington Capital – National Mall, Mayur was promoted to corporate director of revenue management in 2019. Heo joined Donohoe Hospitality Services in 2020 from PM Hotel Group, where she served as vice president of sales and marketing.

Jade McBride has been promoted to president of Ted Turner Reserves, New Mexico, the hospitality sector of Turner Enterprises. He spent over five years at Ted Turner Reserves as the managing director before assuming the role of president.

Hay Creek Hotels has appointed Albert Mertz general manager of Hotel Hartness, Greenville, South Carolina, which is set to open this fall. Mertz started his 30-year hospitality career at the Ritz-Carlton and held various executive roles at Mandarin Oriental Group, in addition to several other international brands.

Sergio Perez has been elevated to general manager of the Kimpton George Hotel, Washington, D.C., following his most recent role as the task force general manager.

Chef Eric Petrie, formerly of Primo restaurant in Rockland, Maine, has been appointed chef de cuisine at the newly reopened Primo Orlando located in JW Marriott Orlando, Grande Lakes, Florida.

Jason Reiplinger has been appointed general manager of Clayton Members Club & Hotel, Denver, Colorado. He joins Aparium Hotel Group, the operator of Clayton, from Woodside Hotel Group, California, where he most recently served as managing director at the Bodega Bay Lodge. Additionally, Eugene Marenya has joined Clayton as general manager of Five Nines, the hotel’s newly opened cocktail bar. Marenya previously worked at American Bonded, Denver, Colorado.

21c Museum Hotels has appointed JP Roberts general manager of its upcoming hotel, 21c St. Louis, Missouri, which will open in 2023. Roberts previously helmed Dream Nashville Hotel, Tennessee.

Ralph Scatena has returned to the role of general manager, as well as area general manager, Phoenix, at JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa, Arizona. A 40-year Marriott International veteran, Scatena previously held numerous leadership positions, including his former roles as regional vice president of sales and marketing and regional director of revenue management.

The Peninsula Beverly Hills, California, has named Ralf Schlegel executive chef to oversee the hotel’s dining outlets, including its signature restaurant The Belvedere and rooftop restaurant The Roof Garden. Before joining the Peninsula team, Schlegel served for over a decade as executive chef at The Jefferson Hotel, Washington, D.C.

Turtle Bay Resort, Kahuku, Hawaii, has appointed Fabiola Sotomayor director of leisure sales. Before joining the Turtle Bay team, Sotomayor represented Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley, California.

Lisa Timbo has been appointed area general manager at Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk, Illinois. She was most recently area general manager for The Westin O’Hare, Rosemont, Illinois, and the Midwest.
