In an executive leadership transition, Apple Hospitality REIT appointed Bryan Peeryexecutive vice president and chief financial officer. He stepped into the role after Rachael Rothman resigned earlier this month. Peery had been the group’s executive vice president and chief accounting officer, and he previously served as executive vice president and chief financial officer from the company’s inception in 2007 until June 30, 2019.
In March of 2019, Peery informed the company of his intention to retire from his positions at Apple Hospitality in the first quarter of 2020, but he has agreed to remain with the company to help smoothly transition his responsibilities.

- Jonathan Alderson is general manager of the Residence Inn Arlington Ballston in Ballston, Virginia. He had been with The Residence Inn Capital View in Arlington, Virginia.
- Elizabeth Brainerd is general manager of Canopy Hotel Baltimore Harbor Point, Maryland. She was general manager of Hotel Revival Baltimore.
- Walter Burton, recently senior rooms operations manager at the Williamsburg Lodge, Autograph Collection in Williamsburg, Virginia, is general manager of Draftsman Hotel, an Autograph Collection Hotel in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel in Paris, France, appointed Vincent Billiard managing director. Billiard departed The St. Regis Singapore, where he was general manager.
Pauline Chua is general manager of Eastin Hotel Makkasan Bangkok in Bangkok. Chua has been in the hospitality sector for more than 25 years, recently serving as general manager at The Naviti Resort in Fiji.
Montage Kapalua Bay in Kapalua Bay, Hawaii, appointed Eric Faivre executive chef. Faivre joined the property from Aqua Aston Hospitality in Honolulu, where he was vice president of food and beverage.
Pestana Park Avenue, opening in January in New York City, appointed José Carlos Fernandes general manager and Esther Barbosa director of sales and marketing. Fernandes has spent the past seven years with Pestana Hotel Group, most recently as hotel manager of Pestana Cidadela de Cascais & Art District Hotel in Cascais, Portugal. Barbosa formerly was director of sales and marketing for New York City’s Doubletree Times Square West hotel.
The recently reopened Sheraton Panama City Beach Golf & Spa Resort in Panama City Beach, Florida, named David Griffin director of sales and marketing. Griffin, who has nearly 35 years of hospitality experience, most recently was director of sales and marketing at Loews Hotels Minneapolis.
Garden of the Gods Resort and Club, Colorado Springs, Colorado, appointed Thomas Hartwell executive chef and Chris Karpov director of front office. Hartwell most recently was chef de cuisine at Edgewood Tahoe Resort in Stateline, Nevada, while Karpov was director of front office operations at Rancho Bernardo Inn in San Diego.
Outrigger Hospitality group appointed four corporate and management positions:
- Marcus Ito is director of sales and marketing at Waikiki Beachcomber by Outrigger in Honolulu. He formerly was director of sales and marketing at G.Lion Hawaii.
- Matthew Mariconda, formerly senior financial analyst with Outrigger, is now controller for Ohana Waikiki Malia by Outrigger and Embassy Suites by Hilton Waikiki Beach Walk in Honolulu.
- Andrés Padilla is executive chef of The Plaza Hotel Pioneer Park in El Paso, Texas, opening in early 2020. Padilla formerly worked as culinary director for Frontera Restaurants in Chicago.
- Mike Palazzotto, formerly director of security at Grand Wailea in Wailea, Hawaii, is corporate director of safety and security.
- Taro Sawabe is assistant director, market development with a focus on Asia and Japan. Sawabe had been operations manager at Kahala Resort in Honolulu.
Kempinski Hotels appointed Marcel Kleffner vice president finance Europe based at the company’s office in Geneva, Switzerland. He joined the company from Accor, where he was director finance and business support luxury brands Europe.
Kimpton Shorebreak Resort in Huntington Beach, California, named Eric Kramer director of food and beverage, Tanner Johnson beverage manager and Gilbert Laurie executive chef. Kramer previously served as director of operations and managing partner of Bounce Sporting Club in Chicago. Johnson has more than a decade of food and beverage experience, while Laurie previously was executive sous chef of the resort’s Pacific Hideaway restaurant.
Best Western Hotels & Resorts named Peter Kwong board chairman for 2020. Kwong, who previously was vice chairman of the board of directors, has 35 years of hospitality experience and 25 years of Best Western ownership.
InterContinental Houston – Medical Center in Houston named Jorge Landa general manager. Landa formerly was area general manager with InterContinental, overseeing a portfolio of three hotels inside the Cleveland Clinic campus in Cleveland.
The Lakehouse at Calistoga Ranch, Auberge Resorts Collection in Calistoga, California, appointed Michael Lewis chef de cuisine. Prior to joining the property, he founded Lewis Provisions, a custom catering company with its own line of bone broths.
Radisson Blu Anaheim in Buena Park, California, appointed Steve Lindburg general manager. Lindburg served as general manager for Radisson Blu Minneapolis Downtown in Minneapolis since 2013.
The Inn on Fifth & Club Level Suites in Naples, Florida, promoted Milena Maksimova from front office manager to general manager, Miriam Graniel from club level manager to front of house manager, Shandra Williamson to revenue manager and Nancy Hernandez to club level manager. Reena Felix, former beach/pool and banquet manager at Marco Beach Ocean Resort in Marco Island, Florida, is now catering and conference service manager, while Tammy Smith is group sales manager.
Nanuku, Auberge Resorts Collection in Pacific Harbour, Fiji, named Logan Miller general manager. Born and raised in Fiji, Miller most recently was director of operations for Calistoga Ranch, Auberge Resorts Collection in Calistoga, California.
Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead in Atlanta named Stephane Mercier general manager. Mercier formerly was general manager of Conrad Cartagena in Cartagena, Colombia.
Aman Venice in Venice, Italy, appointed Norbert Niederkofler consultant chef. Niederkofler, a Michelin 3-starred chef, joined Rosa Alpina in San Cassiano, Italy, as executive chef in 1994.
The Alpina Gstaad in Gstaad, Switzerland, named Tetsujiro Ogata Japanese head chef of Michelin-starred Megu. Ogata supervised Japanese cuisine at properties of brands such as Rosewood, Ritz-Carlton and Atlantis.
Nick Remes was promoted from general manager of the JW Marriott Grand Rapids in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to regional general manager of three AHC+Hospitality-managed Marriott hotels in Grand Rapids: AC Hotel Grand Rapids Downtown, JW Marriott Grand Rapids and Courtyard by Marriott Grand Rapids Downtown.
The Higgins Hotel & Conference Center in New Orleans appointed Daniel Rhodes general manager and Marc Becker director of sales and marketing. Rhodes previously was vice president of operations for Commercial Properties Realty Trust, while Becker was associate director of sales at the Omni Royal Orleans, also in New Orleans.
Hyatt Regency Boston named Carlos Rojas director of sales, marketing and events. Rojas recently was director of sales, marketing and events at Andaz West Hollywood in West Hollywood, California.
Ron Ryan is general manager of Yotel San Francisco. He previously was general manager at Hotel Carlton, a Joie de Vivre property in San Francisco.
Ponte Vedra Inn & Club and The Lodge & Club Ponte Vedra Beach in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, promoted Craig Schoninger to director of sales and marketing. Schoninger has more than 20 years’ experience in luxury resort sales and marketing.
Rishi Singh is executive chef at Houston’s Hotel Derek. Singh spent time as executive chef of Dry Creek Café and Batanga, both in Houston, before consulting for multiple restaurants.
Dream Hotel Group promoted Randy Taormina to vice president of operations. In this role, Taormina is responsible for leading the operations and lifecycles of two flagship Dream Hotel Group properties – Dream Downtown in New York City and Dream Nashville in Nashville, Tennessee, as well as other Dream Hotel Group locations. Taormina previously served as area managing director, Dream Hotels in New York City.
Hotel Amarano in Burbank, California, appointed Jeannette Vasquez director of sales and marketing. Prior to this appointment, Vasquez worked with Hyatt Hotels Corporation for seven years as director of sales for Hyatt Regency Valencia in Valencia, California, and Hyatt Place Glendale/Los Angeles in Glendale, California.
Natalie Wise is hotel manager at The Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove, Miami. Wise, who was part of the leadership team that opened the property, most recently was at The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua, in Lahaina, Hawaii.
