Rita Abney has been hired as director of sales for Residence Inn St. Louis-Westport. Abney joins the hotel from the Doubletree Hotel & Conference Center in Chesterfield, Missouri, where she worked as a sales manager.
Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces has appointed Julian Alden director of sales for The Pierre, A Taj Hotel on New York’s Central Park. Alden most recently was associate director of sales at The St. Regis Hotel.
Dave Baxter has been appointed general manager of the Sheraton Austin at the Capital in Austin, Texas. Most recently, he was general manager of the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Airport.
Daniel Bettencourt has been named hotel manager for the Embassy Suites Orlando Downtown in Florida. Bettencourt previously was assistant general manager at the Hilton Garden Inn in center city Philadelphia.
Skamania Lodge in Stevenson, Washington, has appointed James Boheim executive chef. Most recently, Boheim was the resort executive chef for banquets at the Wild Dunes Resort, Isle of Palms, in South Carolina.
Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas has welcomed Cynthia Boyett as director of business development. Boyett was most recently with Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas as director of sales and marketing.
The Omni Bedford Springs Resort & Spa in Bedford, Pennsylvania, has appointed Lesly Connolly senior sales manager based in the Washington, D.C., area. Connolly joins the resort from the Mason Inn Conference Center & Hotel at George Mason University, which she opened as group sales manager in July 2010.
Amble Resorts in Chicago has named Nathalie d’Amman director of resort operations. D’Amman’s resume includes 14 years in the hospitality industry with brands including Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Ritz-Carlton, Relais & Chateaux and Hyatt Regency.
Rockleigh, New Jersey-based Dolce Hotels and Resorts has appointed Jan-Willem den Ridder as vice president of development for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Den Ridder previously was regional vice president of international lodging development in Europe for Marriott International.
Amy Esnault has been appointed director of sales, leisure and business travel at California’s Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel. Esnault has previously served in sales roles for Ritz-Carlton in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Boston.
Max Kiebach has been named director of food and beverage for The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center in Blacksburg, Virginia. He was most recently director of food and beverage for Bimini Bay Resort & Marina in Bimini, Bahamas.
Glynn Knight has been named general manager at White Lodging’s Marriott Hotel in Richmond, Virginia. Knight’s most recent position was as the general manager at the Courtyard by Marriott located just off Michigan Avenue in Chicago.
The InterContinental San Francisco has appointed Juan Pablo Laginia director of operations. Laginia was most recently the hotel’s director of rooms.
Mount Airy Casino Resort in Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania, has appointed Tonia Lewis vice president of marketing. Lewis has national marketing and event experience with Caesar’s Entertainment and Norwegian Cruise Lines.
Edward Mady has been named general manager of The Beverly Hills Hotel. He will also take on the role of west coast regional director, USA, for Dorchester Collection. Mady previously served as general manager of The New York Palace.
Brent McLean has been appointed vice president, sales and marketing for Northview Oregon Resorts in Bend, Oregon. McLean most recently served as vice president, business development, and director of marketing for Hard Rock Hotel San Diego.
Tom Mulroy has been named general manager of the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Airport and Cruise Port Hotel in Florida. Mulroy previously was with The Procaccianti Group as general manager of the Renaissance Boca Raton Hotel and the Marriott Palm Beach Gardens.
Scott Pickert has been named senior vice president for Northview Oregon Resorts in Bend, Oregon. He comes to Northview Hotel Group from Leisure Sports Inc., where he was the executive vice president.

Ellen Ruane has been named general manager of the Hilton Long Island/Huntington in suburban Long Island, New York. Ruane has previously managed several properties, including the Founders Inn and Spa, Virginia Beach, Virginia; the North Maple Inn, Basking Ridge, New Jersey; and The Forrestal at Princeton, Princeton, New Jersey.
Kerzner International has appointed Dianna Upton director of sales – Africa, Middle East and Indian Ocean. Upton previously served as director of sales for Cox & Kings.
