Pendry Tampa appoints new GM

Pendry Hotels & Resorts has appointed Stephane Mercier as general manager of Pendry Tampa, the luxury hotel and residential development set to open in 2027. Mercier brings more than 35 years of global hospitality experience, with a background spanning Europe, the Americas and the Caribbean.

Most recently, he served as managing director of The National Hotel Miami Beach, where he led the luxury boutique hotel’s operations while concurrently overseeing the pre-opening planning and development for a new hospitality project in Marrakech. His career includes serving as general manager of the Waldorf Astoria Atlanta Buckhead, where he led the property’s repositioning following its transition from Mandarin Oriental, as well as general manager of Conrad Miami, overseeing 205 guestrooms and suites alongside 113 branded residences. Mercier also led the pre-opening and launch of Conrad Cartagena.

“Stephane’s passion for excellence makes him a strong addition to join Pendry,” said Jason Herthel, president and COO, Montage International. “His focus on personalized, culturally relevant experiences informed by a global perspective aligns with our brand, and we are confident he will set a new standard for luxury hospitality in Tampa.”

Situated in the center of Tampa’s downtown Riverwalk, Pendry Tampa will feature 220 guestrooms and 200 Pendry Residences, a three-meal restaurant, lobby bar and lounge, rooftop pool and lounge, Spa Pendry, a fitness center and the brand’s signature Paintbox children’s program, along with 11,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
