Russia proposes cutting number of hotels built for 2018 World Cup: The sports ministry in Moscow has proposed dropping plans for some 25 hotels nationwide — or approximately 40% of those initially planned to cater to fans of the 2018 World Cup soccer tournament.

Forthcoming Brooklyn hotel renamed: Riverside Developers announced its planned hotel development in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood, formerly known as Level Hotel, has been renamed The William Vale. The 21-story, 183-room hotel is slated for completion in early 2016.

 


Small penalty for Premier Inn receptionist: A receptionist who stole £19,000 (US$28,235) from the Premier Inn in Newcastle, England, where she worked at has been told to pay back just £1 under the Proceeds of Crime Act, as she has no assets.

Sage, AEW acquire Texas DoubleTree: Sage Hospitality announced the acquisition of the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Austin in partnership with AEW Capital Management.  The 350-room hotel is scheduled for a US$12 million renovation beginning in November.
