Ramada brand to debut in Kenya: Wyndham Hotel Group has signed a franchise agreement for Ramada Nairobi. The 89-room hotel will be owned and managed by Global Hotels Management Africa Ltd.

Andalusian Resorts and Spas to acquire Costa Rica hotel: Andalusian Resorts and Spas, has executed a letter of intent for the acquisition of the 93-room Mona Lisa Hotel and Casino in San Jose, Costa Rica. Andalusian intends to use the property to cater to the LGBT community.

Utah resort changes hands: The Cumming family has purchased a majority interest in Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort in Snowbird, Utah. The deal is between the Cumming family and the Bass family. Dick Bass was a co-founder of Snowbird in the 1970s, and the family has owned the resort outright since the early part of that decade. Terms of the deal were not released.

Rick Gresh to join Virgin Hotels Chicago: Rick Gresh, executive chef at Primehouse at the James Hotel in Chicago, is leaving his post June 1 to “pursue a new project” at Sir Richard Branson’s under-construction Chicago hotel on June 9.

Meliá reports postive 1Q earnings: Meliá Hotels International said it earned €8.2 million (US$11.2 million) between January and March 2014, representing an increase of 99% over the same period in 2013.
