Carey Watermark sells stake in 2 hotels: Carey Watermark Investors sold its 49% interest in two Long Beach, California, hotels to Ensemble Hotel Partners for approximately US$22.6 million. The hotels are the 199-room Hotel Maya, a Doubletree by Hilton and the 178-room Residence Inn Long Beach Downtown.

Asian hotel transaction volumes up: According to new data from Jones Lang LaSalle’s Hotels & Hospitality Group, hotel transaction volumes in Asia reached US$1.3 billion in the first half of 2013, up 85% on the first half of last year.
Sarovar expands in Africa: Sarovar Hotels has purchased The Premier, a hotel in Kenya. The 144-room hotel is Sarovar’s third hotel in Africa.
