10 new budget hotels in Indonesia:  Property developer PT Intiland Development announced on Monday that it plans to build 10 budget 2-star hotels in Indonesia this year. Some of the hotels are set to open under the Whiz Hotel brand.

Mecca sees record arrivals, new hotel planned:  The destruction caused by the Jabal Omar development project in Mecca is causing record-high occupancy during Ramadan, with some hotels projected to hit 100% capacity. With this demand in mind, the International Islamic Relief Organization-Saudi Arabia announced it is moving ahead with developing a 29-room residential hotel in Islam’s holiest city.

Joie de Vivre coming to Chicago:  San Francisco’s boutique hotel chain Joie de Vivre announced on Monday that it will enter the Chicago market, turning the 148-room Park View Hotel into Hotel Lincoln in the city’s Lincoln Park neighborhood. The hotel, currently closed, is set to re-open in February.
