Hyatt names hacked hotels: Hyatt Hotels Corp. said an investigation into a data security breach exposed last year affected 250 hotels in about 50 countries. The company released a list of affected properties on its website.
Don’t call it the Ahwahnee: The names of the Ahwahnee Hotel and other landmarks in California’s Yosemite National Park will change amid an intellectual property battle with Delaware North, which recently lost a $2 billion bid to run the park’s hotels, restaurants and activities.
Statement on Jakarta: The Bali Hotels Association published a statement in the aftermath of an attack by militants in Indonesia’s capital expressing condolences for the victims and emphasizing increased security in the tourist hot spot.
Joint venture buys London hotels: Denmark’s largest pension fund, ATP, and AXA insurance companies have bought two London hotels for £180 million (US$259.3 million). The two freehold assets were sold by Chelsfield Partners.
ICE’d in Edmonton: Marriott International and ICE District Properties Joint Venture will open a 356-room JW Marriott Edmonton in 2018. It will be the first luxury hotel in the ICE District, one of Canada’s largest mixed-use sports and entertainment districts.
Disney’s Red Lion: RLHC will open a second Red Lion Hotel near Walt Disney World Resort, in Kissimmee, Florida. It will reopen in November after a rebranding. Carter Hospitality Group owns the property, along with the Red Lion Hotel Orlando, which opened last month.
Biz travel expected to grow: A study by the Global Business Travel Association’s foundation says US business travel will continue to increase at “stable and steady rates” over the next two years. Bigger economic issues in Asia and elsewhere will be a challenge.

Waikiki hotel sold: A Hawaii investment group including developer Peter Savio, hotelier and consultant Andre Tatibouet, former hotel executive Ben Rafter and a New York private investment firm purchased the nearly 100-room Ewa Hotel Waikiki for US$14 million. Savio’s HIH Ewa Waikiki Operating Co. LLC sold the Cartwright Road leasehold property to Go Ewa Owner LLC, in which he holds an investment stake.
Ritz-Carlton in Paradise: Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co. and Five Star Development Resort Communities LLC signed an agreement to develop a new resort and residences in Paradise Valley near Scottsdale, Arizona. The 200-room resort, expected to open in 2018, will be part of a master-planned community of homes and residences.
Radisson Red in Guangzhou: Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group signed a management agreedment with Guangzhou ROR Real Estate Development Co. Ltd. for the 160-room Radisson Red Guangzhou South Station. Scheduled to open in 2018, it’s the second Radisson Red in China.
GOCO expands to California: Wellness hospitality development and management company GOCO Hospitality acquired the Glen Ivy Hot Springs Resort in southern California. The purchase price was not disclosed. GOCO plans to expand the 20-acre resort and spa, which has been operating since 1860.
Melia Hotel building sold: Patrizia Immobilien sold its Melia Hotel building in Manchester, UK, for £30 million (US$43.2 million) to a privately owned UK group.
Easyhotel in Ipswich: “Super budget” branded hotels acquired a former nightclub in Ipswich, UK, with plans to convert it to a 94-room easyHotel. The total purchase and conversion costs are estimated at £4 million (US$5.8 million).
