News in brief: Hoxton, Indigo, Marriott, Lanesborough

Indigo for Milan. IHG has announced the signing of Hotel Indigo Milan – Corso Monforte. The hotel will be the brand’s second Italian location and is scheduled to open early 2018 under a franchise agreement with Amapa Group. The historic palace building will be converted into a hotel featuring 55 rooms, a destination restaurant, courtyard and a leisure and fitness center.

 


Marriott returns to Athens. Marriott International has a new agreement with Chandris Hotels to bring the Marriott Hotel brand to the Athens following an absence of more than two years. Once the hotel completes its US$15 million transformation, the Athens Marriott Hotel will debut in 2018 with 366 guestrooms. Chandris Hotels currently owns and operates five hotels in Greece.

 


Hoxton expands to Paris, Brooklyn. Ennismore has announced The Hoxton, Paris and The Hoxton, Williamsburg in Brooklyn New York will both open in 2017. The 172-room Hoxton, Paris, set to open its doors in late spring, will be the 4th hotel in the brand’s portfolio and the second in Europe. The 175-room Hoxton, Williamsburg will be the brand’s first hotel in North America.

 


Radisson Red to KL. Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has announced the signing of the Radisson Red Kuala Lumpur City Center in Malaysia with Masteron Sdn Bhd. The 166-room new build hotel will be situated within Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle, in one of the last remaining areas of the city to be re-developed.

 


Lanesborough launching spa. The Lanesborough in London, part of the Oetker Collection, will launch a new health and wellness facility in spring 2017. The 18,000-square-foot Lanesborough Club & Spa will be accessible to members and hotel guests only.

 


Kimpton in Nashville has name. Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants has named its Nashville hotel set for a Spring 2017, the Kimpton Aertson Hotel. The boutique hotel opens the doors to its 17-story, 180-key, LEED-designed hotel at the corner of 21st Avenue South and Broadway.

 


Mexican resort group rebrands. A Mexico-based resort collection, Original Resorts is rebranding as Original Group, according to Rodrigo de la Peña, CEO of the new group, who adds there are several development opportunities in Cancun, Puerto Morlos and Isla Mujeres.
